Not the sleek kind, lurking in the shadows and looting gold from unsuspecting passers-by. But if you've got two brain cells paying attention to the internet (The other used for *cough* entertainment) you'll be in the know about illegal downloads. Now, everybody does it - but why? Because it's so damned easy!
We're not rich, we're all very lazy; so we go for the cheap, quick alternative. We download.
Now because of this downloading sensation that hit the world it's now become a bit of a fad to own hard-copies of what we download.

Isn't this all just a bit silly?

I'd like to hear your thoughts whilst I stoke my DVD box sets.
Can you stroke downloads? No.

I'm a very good boy when it comes to downloads etc. I very rarely illegally download anything at all.

The only thing I really download is the occasional MP3, honestly. Mind you I don't game or watch movies on my compy, so that's probably a factor.

Nobody is stealing anything, they're COPYING stuff. Besides, the people that purely download weren't going to buy it in the first place, so it actually doesn't hurt sales.
Thats a bit balck and white

Methinks it's due to the poor quality and lack of originality of many of todays songs (Talking about illegal music downloading, here).

If I download a couple of tracks and thinks the artist/album is good, then i'll go out and buy it. However, if they've only got the one good song and the rest are horrible, i'll avoid buying it - simple!

So, that's why the record companies are totally against people downloading music! Todays music's pretty horrible.. If people download a couple songs and realise that the rest of the album's horrible, they've lost a sale! So, they'd want people to blindly buy a music album to get the profits - even though the music's terrible - they still get the profits!

Although I reckon being labelled a 'Pirate' is pretty cool incentive too! ARRRRR!!!!

I've never downloaded anything illegally, simply becuase I do not refer to it as being illegal.
I also stole a controller from wal-mart once.

Sometimes they never box a series, either.

(Reboot, Freakazoid, Beast Wars)

I tend to buy games, and films that I really enjoyed, I got a cineworld card (meaning I can see any film for free so long as it's playing and I pay £12 a month) so I visit the cinema almost every week.

TV shows I D/L as they air, no TV to watch them and I have to keep up with NCIS, South Park & Family Guy!

Thanks to a copyright loophole in Canada, it isn't illegal to download music as long as you don't distribute. Hence the 2+ weeks of music I have on here. Discographies, discographies.

Nobody bring up the morals side, though. It haunts me enough as it is.

i download, i buy, and i work with games, movies and music. but i dont see myself as a thief if i can justify it through some simple rules:

1) can i get ahold of the thing i download, by any other method ?
2) will i consider bying it if i enjoy the product ?
3) is the price of the product worth it ?
4) how dificult will it be to get the product ?

and for me, who live in norway, there is a lot of things like anime and games that never gets released here, therfore i dont wanna spend 100 bucks on ebay for an anime series or movie, that i need a zone-free dvd player to watch.

and with music, i download, listen to, and often buy the cd if i like it.

so if i can justify it by at least rule 1,2 and 4, i will download it.

Also, I read manga, and do so weekly for Bleach.
But - I buy chapters of Bleach (when the &£*3ing come out here. Seriously, it's like every two months.) If I think they are worth the purchase. So in that sight, download is good....Sort of.
