As a male, I find girls/women who don't wear make-up to be a lot better looking than girls who do; not because they are any more beautiful or anything, but because-and this is almost a stonewall fact in my area- teenage girls and young women CANNOT apply it right; instead of using it to just smooth over the rough areas, they slap on layer after layer until its like looking at a porcelain mask.

I don't mind light stuff at all; eyeliner and...that stuff they use on their face...can be not to bad when applied right. Infact it often brings out the best in them. But because I have rarely-if ever- seen people apply it well, I tend to be pretty against females using it in general; you look gorgeous without it, why do you insist on ruining things by putting on all that crap?

As for vivid...define 'vivid'; do you mean just a lot or really bizarre combinations? Because if its either I would ask her to stop because;

A. She looks great without it
B. I don't really see the point
C. It could really backfire and she could look stupid. Or worse.

In general I like my girls pale and unblemished with make-up, but if they use it sparingly and use it well, I'm not going to complain.
I included a link to a video in my original post of the kind of "vivid" make up I like to wear as an example.

Do you think its well applied? The lady in the video is a professional.

Make up on anybody should seem natural. If it's there, then it should look natural, and ideally, shouldn't even be noticeable.

I prefer women who were as least make-up as possible. I prefer a more natural look, but make-up can be nice on women sometimes I guess.

I'm similar, my natural hair colour is a dirty blonde - not a bad colour, by any means, but I like to reinvent myself every few months, so I've been every colour under the rainbow (except green).

I get bored with my looks every now and then, so change them to something I feel either sexy or cutesy, but above all, confident with. It's fun and I treat make-up the same way (though truth be told I fail massively at actually putting the stuff on, so I often end up with accidental panda eyes). :D
Ahaha, I'd recommend against green, I went green once (initially to dress up as Gardevoir for an anime convention... my outfit was awful but at least I did it all myself!) and it was hideous. My granddad's never approved of me dying my hair but when he saw me with it green it was the first time he yelled at me (well, more at my dad for letting me do it) about it.

I always insist on putting make-up on myself on the occasions when I dress up but I'm also not so good at it, despite me being an art student. You'd think I'd have an okay grasp of how to paint things. >_<

I like a light/medium amount of make up on a girl, it can look really nice (Eyeliner/Mascara/Blusher)

I only really dislike makeup when girls paste that shit on like it's icing on a cake...

I do make up design for plays every now and then. Honestly, I love make up. It's fun to play around with and you can really do some cool stuff with it. However, I don't wear it every day. I wear make up when I want to wear make up. Simple as that. Women shouldn't feel pressured to wear it. It's a personal choice of appearance, just like clothing or hair.

Make up is fine in small doses, but when they walk around all orange and looking like friggin Snooki, it is too much... waaay too much.

I'm not a fan of it, personally. I'm lucky in that my girlfriend feels the same way, so I don't have to deal with it on a daily basis. I... don't think I could kiss someone wearing lipstick, its rather gross to me.

Well there's makeup, like nice touches to enhance features, like a nice shade softreddish lipstick or something, perhaps a bit eyeliner in a nice cool shade, not disrupting the original face, and curves.
and there's paint. I honestly find women who put on makeup worth 10$ on their face repulsive.
A bit is fine, but I don't mind none at all either.

It's very professionally applied. I noted it was "stage makeup". It might have a purpose to have that level of vivid on a large stage where you need to project back 100 rows and up several floors. For an individual walking down the street, it detracted from her beauty.
Yeah, she used that palette in the video due to the strong pigments being easier to see. I use normal drug store make up when I recreate it (Ben Nye make up is EXTREMELY expensive), although the colours are still very visible.

I found it quite interesting that you think it detracts from her beauty- I think the colour combination really brings out the fiery tone in her eyes.

Cheap makeup is atrocious. You can smell it from a metre or two away and on a packed subway, it's positively disgusting.

Aside from that really cheap garbage, if a woman wants to cake makeup on their face then they can go for it. I won't even think less of them for it if it's caked on half a centimetre thick from social pressure because that type of expenditure keeps the economy healthy and all. But I will think such caking is ugly.

A fine amount to draw out features (ie, eye shadow, minor blush) is a different story. You know, the type where if you poked it with the tip of a pencil, there wouldn't be an impression left behind.

The issue here is that most youtube videos are about the former scenario: the caking. I mean, on a rubbishy low res upload, that caked on stuff is like an airbrush. What's good on video can be a fail on the street. Can you really blame a commenter for upholding stage makeup passed off as casual street style as if it were for the street?

Depends on the girl/occasion, but in general I prefer little to no make up. Morning face = cute imo

This is really opinion based but I honestly think the guys who say make up looks horrible on women are generally lying. I mean hell I don't think all women should wear make up they can do what they want. But make up does make quite a big difference. Look at celebrities, some of the hottest people in the world and I bet they never leave the house before a professional is finished with them. Although that being said I think when it gets to the point where it is so noticable that when you look at someone your first impression is *LOTS OF MAKEUP* you kind of naturally assume that they are, well not necessarily bad looking, but that they believe they are bad looking and hence some of that lack of self esteem can be unattractive if that makes sense.

I'm afraid you're not looking hard enough, then ;-) Because as a woman I know what my face looks like with and without makeup, and I know how to spot a woman who's going all natural. Granted, some women have bold enough features that even without makeup it could be said they have the made-up "look" (like naturally reddish lips or dark eyelashes). I have lots of friends in their early/mid 20s who don't wear makeup. It just not their thing (that, and they're still paying off student loans).

I like to see moderation, using make-up to accentuate her looks instead of relying on it to create them. I hate the porcelain doll look or anything else that make a girl look like a mannequin or that they'r wearing a mask.

Too much makeup can also seem deceptive. Waking up the next morning to find out the person from the night before looks nothing like she did then is not a great experience

I like it, it hides blemishes and accentuates the good things. I don't really see why you would dislike it.

Granted, some people use too much and it looks messy or strange. Some people can pull off tons of make-up to get a nice effect though, and in those case it can look really good. It all comes down to who's wearing it and how.
