I like it. Just about every girl I know wears some kind of makeup whenever I see them. Nothing drastic but little touch ups- I see nothing wrong with it.

At the same time I would never tell my girlfriend or someone else to put on a bunch of makeup if they didnt have any that day- they'd still look fine without it. When there is an occasion that calls for more high-end makeup along with some fancy/hot dresses, though- you need to acknowledge it, especially if its a date or your girlfriend because she's trying to look as sexy/attractive as she can for you.

As for makeup on guys- yea I've known some guys who used foundation, admittedly they were both in drama and gay... so that's not helping that assumption. Regardless, I can see a guy wearing limited amounts of makeup either to conceal something, etc. At the same time, I wouldn't expect those guys to think they would get by under the radar while doing that- people will notice.

I prefer only what's necessary. Bare basics, if anything at all.
Having a pound of goop on your face doesn't do it for me.

Make-up is best used to accentuate features that already exist. A women looks (at least to me) more attractive with just a small amount of make-up, just enough to make her best features stand out, whether that be her eyes, her cheek bones or her lips.

Those girls who walk around with orange faces, thirty layers of foundation and so much eyeliner they look like they've not slept in four days? They don't look very nice at all.
I agree with Amate- Erh, Daystar here.
I don't mind playful make up in different colors but no excuse to have 30x layers to make one look plastic.

I don't care too much. Some women really don't need it and I think it's funny as hell when younger ones put on too much. My sister (13 in days) will sometimes come up from her room looking like an alternative clown.

I like wearing makeup personally...not full on just black nail-polish and some eye-liner. I looked damn good...stupid double-standard.

I'm a woman, and I don't wear makeup very often.

Of course, a large part of that is (a) I'm a mom, (b) I'm a full-time student. Combined, this doesn't leave a lot of time for me to go screwing around with make-up, and I don't care all that much how I look to my fellow students outside of the most basic "looks presentable" stuff (clean shirt with a decent style for my body type, hair clean and brushed, etc).

I do wear makeup for special/professional occasions, but I tend to go understated. Like the OP, I prefer any razzle-dazzle to be on the eyes.

Honestly, I think most women look good with some basic makeup. It's only when you plaster 12 layers on your face that it's gross.

I'm not a huge fan of make-up, truthfully.

I'd rather that a girl looked completely naturally and had flaws and imperections than looked false (but seeming perfect) complexion.

Things like eye make-up (mascara, eyeliner, etc.) are fine, though; the nicest part of someone is usually their eyes for me, and anything that draws more attention to them is good in my book.

I know that what I described is slightly extreme and that not every girl cakes herself in an inch of make-up, but yeah. I prefer the natural look. Small amounts of make-up are fine if they look natural, too, but as a whole, it doesn't really do anything for me.

Good when applied with skill and restraint.

In a nutshell, if I can tell that it's there then you're wearing too much.

My last long term girlfriend wore gothic eyeliner all the time, and it got to ther point where she looked odd when she weren't wearing it. It's okay most of the time, but do something interesting once in a while... :)

I must admit, I have a fondness for heavy eyeliner, but I'm pretty indifferent to any other makeup.

I probably wear what you would call pretty minimal makeup-- concealer, blush, and dark eyeshadow, with the occasional mascara. My boyfriend thinks I look the same or even better without makeup at all, but it personally makes me feel prepared and "fresh" in the morning, if that makes any sense. Even though he's told me I don't need it, I keep on wearing makeup the way I want to.

By the way, I watched a little of that "sunrise" makeup video, and I don't know of any women personally who do their eyes like that. If I saw someone out and about with that style, I'd probably think they had just gotten done with a Cirque du Soleil performance. :D But, to each their own-- I never get comments on my makeup, but am told I wear too much black clothing all the time (and again-- I still wear what I want despite what people say).

Eh, 90% of the time people look uglier with anything smeared on their face. I don't have a problem with it, per se, but it's usually detrimental to a woman's looks.

Wearing make-up is fine (it's good in fact, both men and women, either gay or straight, enjoy looking at an attractive woman), but it's an outright crock of shit to say that women wear make-up to impress other people, and moreso an accuracy to say that most women wear make-up to validate themselves around others.

Women on men on the other hand... No... Just no... Your lifestyle choices are your business, and that's something that only you can dictate and live with, but straight men do not wear eye liner. There is no appropriate way for a confessed heterosexual man to wear make up.

Umm.. yes there is.

Heck, I often get called on to do makeup for my straight friends because people think I must know how to do men.

It's hot. There's nothing like some really masculine guy with heavy eyeliner. They look like rock stars.

Then there's goth, emo, cyber, certain kinds of punk, all those Japanese subcultures I know nothing about and don't care to. You'd have to be pretty narrow minded to rule all those things 'inappropriate'.

For the ladies, do you find men say you're wearing a lot of make up when you're not? Would you change the way you apply your make up if your partner didn't like it? Why do you wear your make up the way you do?

No no one notices me. Even when I'm wearing makeup. ;_;

Yeah why not. For my non-existant partner. </3

When I do it's cause I like how it makes my eyes look 8D and foundation/powder hides my scars well... and makes pictures look better cause there's no bright light reflecting off your skin.
