In real life? More of a rogue - I'm good with distance weapons (crackshot with a bow and gun), but I am also great with pressure points, so up close I can take someone down fairly fast (I've been in several fights where I hit once and the fight is over). However, a big hit can take me out quickly - I can take pain, but when my bones dislocate, and they will, I can't move as well.
In games, usually a tank. I rush in, draw aggro, soak damage. Hoo-rah.

Well I would say ranger, but I pretty much always switch it up. Like for DnD Cleric/Fighter multiclass is always fun.

It depends really. In most video game rpgs I just play as a fighter type, but when I play DnD I usually always play as a rogue because without the restrictions of programming there is just so much more you can do. Mainly because I am a skill whore with high int and like to be able to do a bit of everything and shoot/stab people in the backs and flanks for the ever glorious additional d6.

In a game I usually play whatever's needed, but usually a rogue class for stealth and extra dps or a buff/heal class like cleric or bard.

In real life I'd be the closest to a sorcerer with a dash of rogue.

Now, your very fate relies on this very question.

Yeah, I am the wizard. I like fighting from a distance, strategizing and using all the funny utilities that magic can provide.

Definitely a caster, but deftly not a direct damage dealing class. DoTs, DoTs, DoTs! DPS is for me.

Ok...i've probably been ninja'd a couple times by now (if not then i'm disappointed), but i don't feel like readin' through all these things...(hey, 'least i'm admittin' it)...but considerin' i'm playin' my first MMO now *coughdcuocough*, and my character class isn't up there, i'm gonna point out i clicked other and then specify:

I myself play a character with the class of "Controller"...my character, a gadget-user named "Red Wolf", uses gadgets (ie: sticky bombs, taser lines, gas bombs, this nifty bomb that when set, "glues" every character close to it to the ground (can't remember what it's called), and my "stealth" ability) to take enemies out one-by-one (or sometimes a few at once). If not outright knockin' 'em unconscious than at least immobilizin' 'em so that either i can get a non-combat related objective done, or let my group take 'em out...

so yeah, since i'm not uber-familliar with th'mummorpugger lingo, that may be one of th'classes you've already mentioned. Since i don't know it, i'll just stick with what i do know....i'm a Controller....so yeah....take that... ;)

If, it were possible, I'd be an Eerie Traveler.

http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=6387951&

?It took me years to wander past the reaches of reality. It will take me countless lifetimes to forget what I saw there. Would there were enough time?? ?Fenris Grell, Eerie Traveler

Eerie Travelers are mortals who have been twisted and corrupted by their travels?whether accidental or otherwise?through the Far Realms. They wield strange and otherworldly powers, invoking magic much like a Warlock, though their powers stem from a far more dangerous and sinister place than the hells.

Sturdy, defensive character with a focus on not dying and more than a few buffs. A healthy mix of range and melee if at all possible, but attack strength isn't too important.

Think Paladin in WoW, or a Sword/Shield Warrior in DA:O.

Well, in most MMOs I play as the Ranger, but in pen&paper D&D I genrally went with the druid, since it fits more with my mindset and when you're roleplaying with a group of people, the flavor of the character matters more than its numbers. (unless you're the munchkin type...)

I used to choose Fighter, but I felt like it was mostly on auto-pilot, run up to them and whack away. Now a days I choose Rouge, because in real life I'm an unlikable loner about exploring and collecting stuff...legally (they attacked me so that makes it mine by law).

Ranger. In all RPG games i play, i like to have a character who is all sneaky-sneaky or uses a bow to kill things from a distance.

Usually hunters, rogue or assassins.

Thief. Thiefing skills, stealth and back-stab multipliers/sneak attack criticls are all I need.

Fighter, I roll a tank in all the MMO's I play.

I thought this was gonna be a 'If you were in an RPG what class would you be' type thing.
