I've heard people use the phrase "the miracle of childbirth," even though it happens everyday. Some people only refer to them as "acts of God", such as surviving a car accident or plane crash unharmed. And a number of people count the little things in-between, which mostly includes finding something (soul mates, lost valuables or relatives).

How about you?

uhh, there's seriously like a bijillion discussions about religion on right now.I'm agnostic so if there is a god, then yes they are miracles. If no god, or gods a prick(which seems likely) then they are simply freak accidents. Which are unlikely, but probability states there is a chance for everything to happen so I'm not surprised. I was hit dead on by a quad and only had a mild concussion. If that was a miracle then that means god had to hit me with a quad first. Douche.

I don't believe in acts of god, because I don't believe in god in that sense, I do however think miracles exist, call it cosmic alignment or whatever you want, a good 3d Sonic game would be a minor miracle in my eyes, as would the announcement of Golden sun 3.

There's no such thing, as simple as that.

There's ALWAYS an explanation for stuff that happens.

I would LIKE to believe in miracles. As in true miracles but nothing has ever happened to like that that I remember.

A potatoe chip that looks like jesus is NOT a miracle.

A miracle is simply a highly improbable event which we interpret as positive.
More like an event which we interpret as highly improbably and positive. Some of them aren't actually all that improbable. ;)

Samuel L. Jackson: "What is a miracle, Vincent?"
John Travolta: "An act of God."

SHBird doesn't believe in God. And, by extension, not in miracles either. Freak occurrences.

I believe its an event where the statistical probability of it happening again is astronomical or if it goes against the law of physics.

The creation of matter was the greatest miracle of all. Statistically there is little to no chance it could have happened, but whos to say that creation/annihilation of matter and antimatter didn't just continue until the statistical anomaly of it not all annihilating happened, that is if we really have got the idea of the creation of the universe right though!

I dunno...I walk through life, thankful each day that the entire universe doesn't go topsy-turvy on me. I'm more or less certain this can occur at any given time.

As for actual miracles, just refer to the Dr. Manhattan speech from Watchmen. You, sitting there, reading this, in whatever condition you're currently in, is a miracle in of itself.

I guess, if you want to apply God to all of this, you have to sit back and think on a very large scale, playing heavily on chaos-theory and acknowledging that every event, whether or not you consider it good or bad, happens because it was supposed to happen in the scheme of things. There really isn't any good or bad; there's just whatever happens and how you deal with it.

Oh yah? What about ALIENS!!!!
What about aliens????

and no such thing as miracles. Definiton of a miracles is and event the breaks the Rules of Physics, while highly improbable could be seen as miracles their just spectaulrly lucky events, or unlucky as the case may be.

Unlike those, I'm not trying to start a debate on who's right or wrong. Like I said in my op, a miracle can mean different things to the individual.

I love how most people voted for the last option.

I'm not sure miracles are miracles in the religious sense, but sure, why not assume you have a guardian angel/spirit/sabre-tooth raptor. It's a more fun way of explaining things than "it just happened".
