I'm from Texas. It's nice here, except for the weather.
Where in Texas? I'm from San Antonio and yeah the weather is weird.
South east of Houston. It's oppressively hot in the Summer.
Yeah same here although other times its sunny with a cool wind (not that it's a bad thing) its pretty wierd, half the time I don't even know if I should wear a jacket.
I just hate the heat in general. The only thing worse is 90+ degree weather with80%+ humidity.
Oh man I know how you feel I fucking hate that. It's like that from February till early April.
Oh and in Houston do you have jailbait like here in San Antonio, because the girls in my area are 13 yet look 17, its rediculous.

I'm from the good ol' USA. Ohio to be more specific. I also didn't know that there were so many Brits on this site. It's always great to have our cousins from across the pond around.

Nah, I'm from Mexico, and believe me, this is a real hole. Let's say it a hole made on the deepest places of hell. Not that is a culturally a bad place, it has very rich and enlightening culture. The reasons are the conditions, the stupid government and more importantly the people who every day seem to want to bee more from the USA. Also it's the country which has a lot more adds on the TV, little more than the double in Australia, per hour. Plus add the violence and fear that we live all day, plus how poor we are...

But I was born in Australia, but I have double nationality, and I have lived nearly all my life in Mexico.

well, I don't really want to go around to everyones profile (assuming they have the information on it) and then compile it. Making a poll, much easier.

I used to live a bit South of Houston and that was our March-September. As far as the jail bait thing, I haven't really noticed.

Australia.

Why are the Aussies all depressed? I think it's the best country in the world.
We don't get real winters (with snow and cold), even in Tasmania our winters are, at worst, equivalent to that of a british spring. Then there's also the whole nanny state censorship thing, I can't imagine that having to many supporters on a site like this.

trade ya, Newfoundland is great.

Unless of course you count cultural isolation, wet weather, mild summers and winters, endless fog, and being the underdog of the entire country.

Yep, other than that it's great
Trust me, cold and snow is far more accommodating than relentless, dry heat. At least you can do something with the cold (snow sports, cuddle up to pretty girls/boys/??? etc). The heat here is death, coupled with our incompetent politicians and largely uncaring, stupid majority it also contributes to crippled infrastructure (Melbourne trains don't work on days above 35 degrees C...that's like 20% of the year).

Also, you guys have enough of a market for stuff to not costs insane amounts of money, enough people so that tax isn't obscenely high and possibly a less retarded government (hard to say as I know little about Canadian politics, but I'd be surprised if you hadn't heard of the Australian nanny state). In short, Australia really is a hole.
Dude you live in Melbourne, at least you get some form of Winter. Brisbane on the other hand... You guys may get heat (and occasionally humidity) but it's the humidity that's pure murder not the heat. I love staying in Melbourne, the weather is just what I like but it's too busy down there, every day it seems people are rushing to get somewhere. I like being laid-back :)

Australia. It's alright, other than the high prices and Michael Atkinson - although he's stood down, apparently.
The DET here sucks as well.
He doesn't officially stand down until the next election, yay for another 4 years of waiting -_-
We do get a winter, though it isn't like 3 months during the actual winter, we just occasionally get a few hours of cold before the gods of melbournes weather get bored and change it. At least in brisbane you have water (and I agree, people in melbourne suck, generally the most impolite people I've ever met, especially on the road).
My partner is from Melbourne, Langwarrin actually and he was quite surprised at the amount of drivers who WEREN'T beeping their horns.

We don't get ANY Winter, none, zippo, ZIIIIILCH! Unless you count the evenings when the humidity goes to sleep for a while, then wakes up screaming at 5am with sunlight beaming through every crack. And while we may get water, the rain also contributes to the next days dosage of humidity. Our Winter, is an average day in Melbourne which to the average Victorian is actually hot.
It's certainly more humid (always) in Brisbane, but the temperature is a lot more consistent. We do get 45 degree+ days down here, and they most certainly are not fun (when I look at the weather Brisbane and the gold coast always seem to be mid to high thirties). The extremities of our weather tend to fuck us, because our glories leaders scarcely bother to plan for the extremes we face annually (train tracks break, expensive tourist attracting Ferris wheels break etc). I actually hate the heat, and more so hate the humid so you are right, Brisbane would be far worse for me but that doesn't mean Melbourne is appropriate or mild by any stretch of the imagination, and if you think that our 'winter' is like what a winter is like, you're wrong (you've surely heard of Melbourne weather? it isn't really unusual to get a 30+ day out of nowhere, though admittedly rarely in the middle of winter).
I've been in Melbourne during their Winter, there is a very clear difference. And I visit Melbourne every year during their Summer, the heat is nothing. The worst I felt was at Soundwave, but that's because I was in the sun all day. We do get 40+ heatwaves and when we do you want to kill yourself and they generally spawn most of our bushfires. Try visitng Wet n Wild during one, you think you're fine because there is somewhere to swim and cool yourself down...wrong. You have to get across pavers that are boiling so much that an egg would literally cook on it and then add the humidity. We may have slightly more preparation for our hot days, but the humidity is what gets us by surprised most of the time. Our major differentiating factor here, is that Queenslanders adapt to heat quite quickly, it's taken my partner a very long to time adapt and even then he still sweats bullets whereas I don't. The other thing, is some people have natural high body heat (like my partner) so the heat affects him more whereas the cold doesn't. As for the public transport, I don't catch it often but it must be made to accomodate for our weather or we really would be fucked.

Melbourne gets me excited when I hear thunder and then gives a little bit of rain, then goes FUCK YOU you're enjoying this too much. And so after 30mins it stops -_- (except for the storm you guys had when I was there last, it made me happy :D) I couldn't be without my Brisbane storms but don't forget, we may not get four seasons in a day but our weather can be aggressively random. I love getting on a plane to Melbourne, I know the weather is going to be welcoming...hate coming back from Melbourne, you get a nice whiff of humidity the minute you walk off onto the tarmac -_-) For me, Melbourne had ideal weather but it's not the place for me to live. Our states really aren't that different when it comes to weather patters it's just our weather types.

what is bad about Australia? i have always wanted to visit and maybe even live there.
Its full of Australians. Come to New Zealand instead.

New Zealand and Australia have had a fierce rivalry for many years. Its something to do with Australians being jealous would be my guess. Not to mention the underarm incident of '81 [link]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underarm_bowling_incident_of_1981[/link]
Still waiting on an apology for that one..

I'm one of the few Americans who actually enjoys playing and watching soccer (football) I've always wanted to play against a foreign team, just to see how bad we would get our butts kicked. (age range of 16-18)
