PC, gotaa say didn't know it had a quick save feature but once I find it I ain't visiting a safe house again. Got it for PC because I hate console FP shooters and like any game of this nature it will no doubt have a considerable sized modding community.

RE5 is coming out. I've heard this game is like an open-world African savannah... is this correct?
Sadly not. It will be very much like RE 4 (i.e, linear). Not that that's bad, i loved RE 4.
We was referring to farcry 2.

Yes FC2 is in the savanna and it is freeroaming.

Well...I bought the 360 Version and pirated the PC one for the sake of benchmarking my old rig.It struck me with wonderful performance and graphics on what I though was a shitty machine so I'm already regretting my choice.Oh well, I'll just finish it on 360, sell it and buy a PC Version once it becomes cheaper.

Haven't bought it yet (Fallout 3 is coming next week, and by the time I get through that and The Witcher, it'll be cheaper anyways), but I fully intend on buying it for my PC.

Controls, graphics, mods, and controls.

Got it for the PC yesterday and what a fun game it is. I spent so much time just exploring the massive world, I didn't mind the long drives, not when the world is massive.

I have been getting one annoying ass problem with the game though. Sometimes when i try and launch the game, i click the exe and nothing happens....the game wont launch at all. When it DOES launch it gives a a "your drivers are old, update" warning but I can still play the game smoothly, because when I DID update the drivers the game decided not to work again and my color vibrancy on my monitor didn't work as well, so i rolled back. Has anyone had trouble such as launching the game too? And YES my computer is MORE than capable of running it.

I pre-ordered it for the 360, though I would have gotten it for the PC had I one that could handle it.

I got it on PC. Its a great buy if you meet the recommended requirements. It actually looks better than Crysis but has lower requirments. You have to remember though, the game was designed for consoles(because developers are tierd of getting their work stolen by pirates) so it is missing some stuff that it would benefit from (leaning, prone ect). Still, you definately wont regret buying Far Cry 2. Its awesome.

Check out my screeny ;)

Depends, does it have a decent multi-player?

Fed up of playing shooters on PC, the outrageous cheating makes my ears vent superheated brain juice. To save what is left I will try playing on consoles in future.

Playing the pc version and it feels like a console port to me the slow mouse in the menu, the "press start" style console screen, those blue box save points with the floppy disc on just in case pressing Esc is too hard so use "e" instead, Save point after resting (if i wanted to save I can press F5)

According to PCgamer farcry 2 was published and developed in house by Ubisoft so I don't think Crytek had any involvment.
My 9800gtx is handling the game easily at ultra settings it's a very optimised engine to be sure but if it is like you claim I can't understand why these issues have appeared otherwise is seems they made a pcgame first and foremost but made it how a console game would be.
I think it is like assasains creed good gameplay = but filled with annoyance why can't weapons dealers just phone me or me them it would be just as realistic and would mean less traveling.

I got the game yesterday (why do they always miss the release dates nowadays?) and I have to say I am enjoying it quite a bit. Although it is undeniably repetitive and frustrating at times (enemies respawn too quickly and traveling from place to place can be a chore when you have patrols attacking you every 30 seconds), the sense of atmosphere is probably the greatest I have ever seen in a game. Although the graphics aren't quite up to the standards of something like Crysis, the world truly feels alive and organic (if a bit too brown at times), in no small part thanks to the dynamic weather and smartly-applied physics, which cause all the trees and grasses to blow in the wind. There are few games where it's enjoyable to simply wander around doing nothing at all, but Far Cry 2 is one of them. If there is one triumph Far Cry 2 can claim, it is that it is host to one of the most immersive, breathing game worlds ever constructed.

The shooting itself is fun, too; stealth is a viable option if you go about it the right way (it does seem a bit binary, in that the AI gains psychic awareness of your location as soon as you're discovered), and the weapons all feel unique. I quickly developed a set of favourites: Dragunov, MAC-10 and RPG-7. It's worth pointing out that sniping is incredibly satisfying, and that the rockets are very entertaining to use (especially when they misfire and go spinning out of control). There is a very visceral sort of feel to the action, and even though enemies tend to take too many hits before they go down, combat is still very enjoyable and has a good rhythm to it. It's just a shame that the AI can get a bit predictable, or just completely break down at times.

I should also point out that the audio package is incredibly strong. The music is a bit repetitious but can be turned off if you so choose, and this might be my recommendation as it really lets the ambiance shine through. The voice-acting is actually pretty weak, but the environment sounds thick, dense, and wet in the jungles, and open, airy and dry out on the savannahs. The vehicles all have distinctive rumbles on par with any racing game's, and the weapons all feel gutsy and distinctive, not a one of them lacking in character or impact. I'm not sure if it beats out Crysis (which probably does a bit better with positional audio, music, and dynamic environmental effects), but it's pretty damn close. Whoever designed the audio for this game deserves some major praise... and whoever hired the voice-actors should probably be fired.

Is the 'Quick Save' Feature on the PC necessary?
I.E, do you have to spent large amounts of time driving to the mission again each time you die? or are their checkpoints on console version?
