I felt that the things that were added to the movie that were not in the book were totally useless. The movie should have included a lot more dialogue and action from the book. I feel kind of let down by the movie.

I want to hear everyone's opinion.

Well, they cut out the funeral...which is one of the most important things I believe from the book...

That's a very sad thing if the movie is based on the book. There are lots of revision though others are not relevant. Many cannot appreciate the real view of the movie and they got depressed to know that they can't have what they are expecting for.

Over here, it's not coming out until Thursday, but I won't watch it anyway. I lost interest after growing up.

Anyway, I think the opinions boil down to:

-People who don't care about what Hollywood does to base material. They're the ones who don't analyze plots, don't think over what the story means, and generally don't like reading or thinking while enjoying media.

-People who don't care either way, and enjoy the best of both worlds.

-People who dislike what Hollywood does to base material. Basically, they're opposites from the devote movie goers.

EDIT:
Sorry, I got off track while I was thinking about the original question. Anyway, I dislike the way the previous movies made everything too dramatic and dropping the "thinking material".

Just saw it tonight. I just have to say, and keep in mind, Half-Blood Prince was probably my favorite of the books...

It was awesome.

They didn't edit out anything important that they didn't at least allude to, the changes made to fit the movieverse were quite well done (especially the focusing on both the parallel stories of Harry and Malfoy), the direction was excellent, and the acting was superb. There was only one scene I had any complaints about (the one in the Room of Requirement getting rid of the textbook felt off), but that was vastly outweighed by everything else.

Seriously, this has easily become my favorite of the movies.

I'll tell you when someone bootlegs it and puts it on youtube. I'd feel weird going into the theater if I don't look like my girlfriend is dragging me along to see it.

I haven't seen it yet, though my brother has stated multiple times of his dissappointment of how he says the movie didn't really explain the title (The Half Blood Prince)

That and the fight scene in the castle :(
I was highly disappointed and am not getting crap for it from people. To me the movie never really had a climax. It just sort of plateaued.

I thought it was generally okay, they did cut a lot of stuff out but the movie was pretty long as it was. As the books seemed to get longer and longer I can't say this surprises me. The last book is being made into a two parter, and that might not be a bad idea. Personally I'm unsure if the two part final chapter is nessicary or an attempt to wrangle more cash out of the last part of the franchise though.

My problems with the movie were many even though it was okay. I think the casting of professor slug was awful (they needed a huge fat guy to play him as I understood the description). It also seems that as the cast gets older so do all of the extras in the hallway. I might have missed them but you don't see any little kids running around.

Also, to be entirely honest, I am a bit miffed over the fact that it seems the directors are overusing normal clothing for the main cast, when they should be wearing their robes like 99% of the time.

But they again as they make more movies, I think the fan base is getting pickier (I know I am) the thrill that it simply got made into a movie is fading. I suspect I might have had a harder time than usual following this one if I hadn't read the books.

I think there is something wrong when I'm more impressed with the performance of the girl playing Luna Lovegood (in what was probably less than 5 minutes of screen time), than with the guy playing Professor Slug given that he was a major crux of that entire story/book.

I saw the film last night so the details are still fresh in my mind, and I thought it CRAP!

My main complaint is that the book is better, I mean, for a book that was focusing on Dumbledore the filmakers sure as hell didn't include him much, opting to show off Harry and Ginny's pointless relationship for more than half the film.

While they stayed truer to events than in some films some things they change are bloody awful, for example the scene at the burrow's demise was utterly useless with the rather cliche runnnig through the crops, although in this case they were reeds. The whole of Dumbledore's death was rubbish as well. In the book Dumbledore paralyzes Harry hence giving Draco the oppurtinity to disarm him, making Harry interestingly unable to do anything but watch, invisible (he had the cloak on). In the film though they decided to make Dumbledore tell Harry to stay hidden instead. Draco rather anticlimatically disarms Dumbledore and Harry chooses to do nothing - very unHarrylike. Then when Snape tells Harry to shut it, Harry does nothing AGAIN despite him suspecting Snape all along. Oh and one minor irk, Dumbledore falling off the tower in slo-mo was crap as well, I was hoping for him to fall down Isengard style.

My largest annoyance was that cut the fight with the death-eaters. When Dumbledore and Harry get back there's a massive fight in Hogwarts between the order of the pheonix and the death-eaters. It was a good part of the book, and I was looking forward to it in the film, it could have been the jewel in their shit-stained crown. BUT THEY CUT IT! No doubt to replace it with more self-harm inducing scenes with Harry and Ginny and Ron and Hermione and some books and UNSUFFERABLE BOREDOM!

Oh and Harry's getting prettier and prettier every film, in this one you saw his scar once and his hair's looking distinctly un-messy. Honestly it's not Harry in the films any more it's just Daniel Radcliffe.

However despite all this the special effects were excellent, but the only film I've ever let off for shitty acting, writing, and everything was Tranformers, so HP isn't gonna get off that easy.

The actor the Draco (someone tell me his name) was good and played the part very well.

PS Ron was only put in for laughs and crappily done. Fenrir Greyback needed to be better put in as well.

I'm done, I want to write more though, about the Half-blood prince and Hagrid though.

All in all a very very poor attempt. Chamber of Secrets is still the best.

They screwed up the ending and the Half Blood prince part seemed tacked on.

I've read all the Harry Potter books except Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, therefore I can only judge it by the quality of the movie. I think it was easily the best Harry Potter movie by far. It was funny, dramatic and gripping. I love how the characters have grown up and start acting like real teenagers.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned or not, but... the film is called 'Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince'. So, where was the Half Blood Prince? I think there were three times it came up, honestly - when he found the book, when he used the spell, and when Snape revealed it was him. In the book there is so much more to it, about how Snape was only half wizard. It was this that was seriously lacking from the film.
