screen looking sounds stupid, screen hoping makes no sense, so its either screen peeking or screen cheating. though i'd only call it screen peeking if it wasn't actualy split screen but two seperate screens.

Screen peeking. It's the easiest to say, in my opinion.

Also, it's not cheating. They can look at my screen too, nothing's stopping them.

I didn't even know there was a term for that. And anyway, the few times I've ever played spit-screen multiplayer, if I was looking at my opponent's screen it's probably because mistook it for my screen which would leave me wondering why my avatar wasn't doing why I told it to.

Screen Looking is what I always had called it and heard it called that's both living in the midwest and now southeast USA both places people have called it that. And I always go for the sniper so I have people screen look on me all the time to side step just in time to get out of the way followed by me yelling YOU SCREEN LOOKING BASTARD!!!!

I must admit that did make me a very good sniper tho when Online shooters finally came around. I owned face (quite literally) in Halo 2 with a sniper most people accused me of cheating since in Halo 2 you could strafe with the sniper and basically shoot through a wall if you had your sensativity set to 7 or higher.

but hey, we all do it.

PS: we created a fun new game based on this phenomenon. We spend the majority of the game looking at each other's screen, try to determine our positions, and kill each other ONLY through looking at each other's view. It's pretty hectic.

I've heard every other gamer I used to know call it "screen peeking", but I call it "who-the-hell-do-you-think-you-are-get-the-fuck-out-of-my-house-you-cheap-chicken-shit-coward". One word.

I still prefer my own phrase.
