No worse than those MLP creeps >_>

Kidding, kidding, I really don't mind either as long as they aren't pushed in my face.

Be respectful.

Personally, I think they're okay. Some of them are a bit out there and give us bad press (See: Chewfox [Maury], Sabrefox [CSI], Kiira [My Strange Addiction]) but a good percentage are OK people, if a bit nerdy.
Wait, are you talking about scritchers, or something else?

I'd put scritchers a few posts down on the Eww! totem from people who like to have a dump taken on them.

Had to say "Kill it with fire!!" It is just that annoying to me, the majority I have encountered are way too "in your face". And as some people have said already, they tend to be overly sensitive if someone says the slightest thing against them.

Being one, it mostly doesn't bother me. However some do take it too far and scare the hell out of me. Most of them don't. Besides I know people with weirder fetishes...........

Depends on what kind of furry they/we are talking about. There are the scat/child prons (Oh, but they call it "cub", it's so cute and totally not immoral now!) guys and you have the people who claim to just be into it for the art but are totally lying. Then there are... The fursuits...

Then there are the perverted twats like me who like the idea of normally feral and unintelligent animals being bipeds and equally as intelligent as humans. Really, it's on par with liking non human aliens and fantasy races, these just have more obvious animal features. As a result, we would admit that we'd totally "tap that" in addition to using them as characters since they're intelligent enough to them bathe and basically are human with different physical features, ie, it'snotbeastialitygetthatnotionoutofyourheadyouidiotswewouldnotfuckourdogs.

Is it weird? Duh. As weird as the "other" guys? Hell no.

Why do so many people seem to think that Furry is just a fetish, that's like saying liking anything manga/anime related is a fetish just because hentai exists.

The whole anime fandom has cosplayers, artists, fanfic writers, and those that like hentai, but we don't define that fandom on the hentai lovers. Whereas the Furry fandom has the exact same elements but everyone seems to zero in on the sexual stuff.

Furry aint a fetish >:I

I don't know who ChewFox, Sabrefox, or Kiira are but regardless of whatever things they've done I don't feel the need to judge them, ever.
Chewfox was the "bedroom fursuiter" on Maury.
Sabrefox helped CSI write "Fur And Loathing".
Kiira was on "My Strange Addiction" as a fursuiter, quit the fandom due to it, then came back like nothing ever happened.

All three are examples of scumbag furries that make the rest of us look bad. But then again, all three are referred to when you ask Joe Sixpack what a furry is. It's an image thing. Nothing more, nothing less.

There are fursuiters that are 100% innocent and hang around kids at supervised events to entertain them. But you never hear about them, now do you?
I still don't see how they're scum. From what I understand they're being hated just because they're stereotypical furries and they accepted the opportunity to be in reality T.V (except for csi), promoting furry oriented stereotypes. This just furthermore strengthens my conviction that this is all about 'furries hating furries.' It's not their job to be an icon or a symbol of how normal furries really are. They're just people trying to be them selves and it just so happens that they're the stereotypical furries. Still, I fail to see how they are scum.

Hating them simply because they promote furry stereotypes is just as wrong as hating all furries - it's still bigotry. We're in the wrong in siding with the bigots and trying to show this 'furries are normal' image. Because in saying that the behaviour of a few fellow furries is wrong we're basically caving in and proving the bigots right. And in being ashamed that only furthermore gives them fuel. Bigots will always be bigots and there will always be bigots, just as there will always be walking stereotypes. And instead of siding with the people that'll pre emptively judge me as a stereotype I'll go with the people that are just trying to be them selves, regardless of how condemned they may be.

We condemn them not because they are scum, but we condemn them because they are different and we don't want to be seen as different. They are just like that one strange kid that no one wants to be friends with - he's alone because no one wants to be seen as strange them self. But the truth is we are strange, everyone in this world is strange. The only difference is whether we'll accept people for who they are or if we'll kick them down until they off them selves.

- Dramatic Speech finished.

All I have to say now is that being a walking stereotypical furry probably takes a lot more bravery then being one of the furries that condemn them for their behaviour. . .

Furries will only gain legitimacy and tolerance from the mainstream when something uniquely furry becomes popular and profitable for a large business or large group of people.

Don't get your hopes up.

Maybe it has nothing to do with "media exposure". Maybe giant anthropomorphic animals are just super freakin' creepy. (see: uncanny valley)

There's the whole "What the hell qualifies as a furry?" thing going on as well. By the logic of most trolls, everyone who liked Disney movies with anthromorphic animals as a kid is a furry.

Felicia from Darkstalkers should probably do a Milk Commcercial then. Or a Peps or Coca-Cola one. Which ever works.

Hell she'd make it sell at least :D

A furry is just anyone that likes an aspect of the fandom and decides to call themselves a furry. I mean there are furries out there that are only in the fandom because they like the community, some people are artists and others write fanfic or whatever.

And then there's the infamous fetish part of the fandom that everyone seems to focus on, which itself has lots of confusing subcategories.

All people need to understand really is that "Furry" can mean lots of things, and it definitely isn't always a sexual thing.

I THINK they're fine, as long as it remains in domains of... entertainment?
I'm not sure what my answer should be.
Could anyone shed more light on this phenomenon? I know very little.

What they like is up to them, why should other people care at all or have any feelings towards their personal fetish? As long as they aren't trying to tell everyone in every other word they have a Furry fetish then good for them but then that is the same for any fetish to me.
