Everyday I am hammered by the constant ad's and friends talking about the new expansion set coming out and what they were going to do when they start to play it. I myself have not played World of Warcraft for about 7 months, and I find it annoying to hear the buzz of the expansion set. Sure, I can understand they are excited to explore a new and interesting continent, and plenty of new things that you can do, but I can remember myself thinking the same thing when The Burning Crusade came out. When I reached level 70, I saw just how the game had mulilated the gear I had worked so hard to achieve, quickly replacing the High Warlord Gear I spent months raising my rank for with level 66 greens. Is anyone feel that this will be different? That this will be a step higher for the game quality?

... I'm pretty sure this thread has been done before.

Also all I know about Wrath of the Lich King is that now several of my friends will become boring shut ins again and talk about nothing but raiding.

Well first of all, the burning crusade was meant to replace older gear that level 60's had spent ages grinding for, not much point in not having better stuff to fight more powerful monsters.
And i cant wait for the expansion, the new class, raiding system, PvP, instances and the quest lines, if you liked the burning crusade, chances are you will like this two.

Blizzard have also tried to solve some problems they had with the crusade, like when it was released entire server populations all spilled into a single area and that took down servers in some cases, blizz have put in a choice of areas for you to start in. And the raids have 10 and 20 man settings, with 10 being easier but with not as good gear, 20 is like hard mode. There will be lots of daily quests, even ones for your professions. And of course all the classes get fancy new spells and abilities.
(Warlocks get a teleport spell, really looking forward to that one ^^)

Well, after seeing Burning Crusade and how it totally destroyed the already shitty original game, I wouldn't doubt if Rise of the Witch King (oh sorry, that's a Lord of the Rings expansion) Wrath of the Lich King did the same thing. For a company that has never created a single original video game, it sure has gone down hill with its rip-offs and sequels.

Then again, an expansion that doesn't add anything more than a couple new areas, a couple new classes, and a little addition to the storyline doesn't seem like anything for World of Warcrap-goers to worry about.

And besides, how could you ruin something anymore than what is already one of the worst and overrated games in the history of gaming?

World of Warcraft has nothing to offer me.

I love storyline, hate grinding and don't play well with others. MMO's and multiplayer focused games can go fuck themselves with a switchblade. I have better things to do as far as social activities go.

It'll be just as expected. It's not going to pull in any new gamers, WOW in and of itself will do that on it's own, but it will most likely bring in some old WOW'ers to try out the new content. (like i'm going to do).

Man, this thread is negative. Only one poster has had a positive opinion of the game at all. So, I'll buck the trend. I haven't played WoW ever, and I've only really played one MMO. I have read one review of the game (on this very site), and it was overwhelmingly positive. Also, people who don't like WoW, do you hate it or MMOs altogether? Because from what I've seen, WoW is basically the best MMO out there now. The statistics seem to support this. It certainly has the largest fan base. The review that I read said that WotLK basically took what was good about WoW, and made it better. Bottom line, if you don't like MMOs or WoW, then you won't like this. The only people who can really analyze are current players, because it's aimed at them. (Yes, I realize that I don't fit that criterion)

Edit: only one when I started to write this

I did not mean for this thread to be negative, I was trying to make this a neutral discussion, I understand that people do enjoy this game (thus the millions that play the game) I am just setting an example of what I think about it, and I am happy to be proven wrong, or right.

neutral discussion? isn't that just everyone going meh, whatever. surely heated discussion is better because people actually, you know; care about what's being said?

Honestly, WoW only has the biggest playerbase for the following reasons:
1. It has "Warcraft" in the title. Warcraft was a good game.
2. Games increase in population exponentially. The more people that are in it, the more people that will join.
3. It is nearly impossible to get removed from the game unless you blatantly -try- to get banned.
4. Real-money trade is actually encouraged instead of a bannable offense. Cheating makes games easier and more approachable to newcomers.
5. The game is very easy and offers little in the way of skill. This means that a five-year-old kid can easily win in a fight agaisnt a twenty-year-old man.

I have played World of Warcrap. I have played multiple MMORPG-genre games. And honestly, out of every one I've played, I've liked most of them. The worst one I played was WoW. WoW had no originality in anything (honestly, look at the title of this game's expansion, doesn't it sound suspiciously like BFME2: "Rise of the Litch-King"?).

I went "as Expected" Because I expect it to be a PvE grind to 80, and more of fighting a level 90 boss in the new dungeons for a mediocre set of armor that only shows how pretty the player can look.

I don't play online games. I refuse to have my arse handed to me by some shut-in freak with no life.
Or even worse, a twelve-year-old kid who stole his mom's credit card and paid $120 USD for a character with all the best equipment. It's funny because of how frequently it happens. Two people at my high school actually -bragged- they did that very thing.
