The Mp5 is still a decent weapon up close but thats where it is MEANT to excel. SMGs are CQC weapons designed for fighting in environments like buildings (such as Havana, Summit or Firing range) its meant to have a good rate of fire and be accurate at a short distance with stopping power to reflect. The 74u seems to forget its an SMG and decides that it wants to be an assault rifle but with rapid fire as an option. It has the same range as most Rifles but heavy stopping power and with rapid fire attached it becomes too powerful.
The commando is actually worse than the 74u in medium distance firefights as I have died many times on Hanoi when I was using something like the Galil, Famas or Commando and firing at a decent range when the 74u turned around, sprayed and took me out despite my pinpoint shots hitting them.
The in game lag is something else a lot of my friends have noticed, as have I. Seems you can run aorund a corner empty a mag into a guy only for him to turn around look at you then sprint up and knife you. Then the killcam shows that he in fact had a good 5 minutes after you rounded that corner to kill you. Kinda BS imo but thats just on the 360 print of the game not sure if the PC / PS3 owners have had anything like it.
Meh I probably need more practise with it then and start using it on the right maps as the problem I have with it is in the close quarters fights. Maybe I just need different perks as I don't have many perks and I am probably using the worng ones with it.

I use Scavenger, Steady aim and ninja on my CQC load out along with the 74u, flashs and I think frags. Claymores make a nice addition too, if someone is chasing you and you run through a door, you drop the claymore facing the direction you're going, they chase you over it and KABOOM instant back shot, also works with a runner setup (marathon / lightweight).
My "frontline" class (all rounder) is currently a Galil with a silencer on it, Scavenger pro, hardened pro (to stop me flinching when I get hit) and Hacker pro (spotting claymores before they go off, avoiding walking into cleverly hidden turrets and Fucking with peoples supply drops are all a lot of fun) I dont really use anything else as I have previously stated, I am a run and gun, I love my assault rifles and I carry a Strelok-3 as a spare weapon to Knock out supply drops, spy / counter spy, chopper gunners etc.
Fun tactic you might wanna try, on a big open map use a strelok to bring down a rivals supply drop somewhere near you. They will come running to reclaim it, if you have hacker pro you can steal it then setup a bomb rigged "supply drop" that looks real but explodes the instant they touch it.

* Fix the knife lunge bug that renders the knife-wearer immortal during stab animation when close-up. Since the game was released, using KNIFES is more effective than using SHOTGUNS at close range. Yes - the game is *THAT* broken
* Raise player caps. 9 vs 9 players is laughably small for a game released in 2010
* Release levels that are significantly larger. The size of the maps and concidering how UGLY they look, it's rather insulting.
I dont even need to ask and I can tell you got the PC version of this game.
I feel sorry for you, truely and I offer all the hugs in the world.
The 360 print is actually really good bar the hienous lag we get which, like you, seems to only show up when Im in a fire fight (again i cant discuss the Ps3 print as I havent played it)
