Simple enough question. With me hating driving right now, with all the snow and ice that has found the Midwestern United States as of late, it made me wonder how other people get around and how they handle the bad weather. So, what is your main transportation source?

I have a 97 Chevy Lumina. It hasn't been doing very well with all the bad weather and since I live 10 minute from everything, it's made getting around a *****.

EDIT: Forgot to put a "Bus" option.

Hah, I walk. No matter the weather. Grocery store, class, friends place, you name it, I have always walked there.

Though I soon hope to be the owner of a fairly old chevy baretta a friend wants to sell...a 96 I think but in fairly good shape.

Toyota Yaris Verso.
An ugly beast, I know, but god damn it's practical. And thus it fits me perfectly. You can actually lower theback seats into the floor so you have a huuuuuge space for transporting stuff; I've made an entire move with this baby in one drive!

Thanks to poor depth perception meaning that I can't get a license, the bus takes me where I need to go.

Looking forward to moving home to Boston where the public transit is far better.

Living in London, I have little need for a car so have not yet bothered to take any driving lessons. Public transport or good ol' fashioned walking gets me to absolutely anywhere I need to go.

Walk or take a bus generally but I am in the process of learning to drive. Or rather practicing my driving as I've already learned the manouvres etc.

I drive a red Citroën Saxo.

(Not the actual car, just a pic from the net, but it's the same model)

I was driving a Micra up until recently.... kinda ended up backending someone (thought they'd left the junction, they hadn't, and when I turned round there wasn't quite enough time to stop d'oh).

Temporarily driving a Focus... depending on what the insurance company decides about my car, depends what I drive next... The Focus is too uneconmical to drive to work (long commute), so I'll be getting something else if they write my car off ^^.

I'm putting off driving for as much as possible. Saying I drive a train is close enough though. COMMUTING FTW

This is pretty much what I drive as well. Although I'm sure there are a few differences.

Bicycle!!
I have a license and all, but I don't need a car.

If I need to go somewhere for a social occasion, I luckily have lots of mates with cars, however. I am a cheapskate like that.

2007 Ford Focus. I've had it back just over a week, after some silly old woman pulled away from the side of the road without looking in front of her, while I was turning right. Straight into my front bumper and 3 weeks without the Focus.

Still, I got a Seat Exeo for the duration, which was good, except for the fuel mileage. I think I was sub 40 mpg for the most part, when I can get 50+ out of the 1.6TDI Focus.

Of course, that's mainly for the winter and the longer journeys, such as in the cricket season and shopping trips. If the weather is good and the journey is less than 10 miles, I'll get my push bike out and hit the streets. Good for me and good for my wallet.

A bright red Volkswagen Polo [http://www.carsurvey.org/images/volkswagen_polo_1.jpg], 1997 reg. It was my grandfather's, and he left it to me shortly before he died. It's the best car ever. <3
