I'm female (lesbian, though), and my best friend is a man. It's really annoying how people assume we are dating, or that I'll 'come to my senses' and stop being gay because of him.

Female with a male best friend.
I get so angry when people say that opposite genders can't be friends. All my life I've had friends from both genders, and they've always leaned more to the male side anyway. I guess it helps that I'm a tomboy, but I find it completely normal when people have best friends of the opposite gender.
Why can't we all be friends?! >:V
From what I've noticed,a lot of guys seem to think that if you have a stray sexual thought of someone, they can't be friends, which is why I've been told that men can't be friends with women, (Or other men if they're gay) because they are secretly betraying their friendship with their thoughts.
But who cares?
Of course, if it's not just some vague attraction, but strong unrequited love, it might not work.
I've distanced myself from someone I fell madly in love with because I knew she was straigth and in a relationship, and being close her was just too painful.
But apart from that, I'm fully cabable of having non-romantic relationships with people I'm attracted to.
