Maybe the government is saving them for some future conflict(WW3 perhaps? Hm?)

You die. The End.

If you want to know more about how i think and came to that conclusion read my post in the
"How do you view everything around you [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/18.67508.603300]"-thread

I'm frankly saddended and bemused. This is the Escapist, yet nobody so far has mentioned zombies!
I like to think of that as an improvemnent to the past topics I've placed on past accounts on this site. Remember "War Monger of the Yabucua"? That was me. Got banned for insulting this Korean who liked WOW. COH is much better(though a bit like a ghost town).

tbh i am really really scared of death. i would just hate for it to be the end and for nothing to happen after it. i suppose that i wouldn't know about it if it was, what with me being dead and all.
on a lighter note when do you think death became something to fear

I'm not scared of death, I'm scared to die in a horribly excruciatingly painful death (cuz of the pain part)
But I am more afraid of loosing the people that I love or dying and making the people that love me go through the same thing.

Decomposition, nothing points to anything else.

Reincarnation, what? That?s ridiculous, what information has lead some one to believe this? It is far from logical.

Afterlife, just as ridiculous, what has prompted this conclusion?

When you think about a reason ask yourself why? What information has lead me to be believe this?

Maybe the epending Apocalypse in 2012. When the Anti-Christ and Jesus possibly battle it out in the biggest battle in the history of Mankind you'll believe in some Higher being who toys with us, loves us, and wants to protect us. Also in and evil being who does things that are opposite to what the good being wants.

Our perception ends.

We have no idea what, if anything, comes next. That's what makes it so important that we make what we do while we're here worthwhile, instead of hoping for some kind of post-game reward from an unknowable scorekeeper.

It'd be nice if more people got that.

When you die your spirit leaves your broken and battered carcass, which is hopefully not glitched halfway up a mountain. Then you just run back and rez.

...or call for a healing class.

Your poll options are strange. Nothing involving burial, cremation, etc.

I guess what happens after you die depends a lot on the people around you and how you died. Maybe you will be buried, cremated, or get stuck in a pyramid.

Afterlife-wise: You die.

EDIT: "What atheists believe"? That was a joke? Next time you make a joke, be sure to include humor.

I don't think it was, and certainly, it -could- be taken as a belief from the point of view of an un-decided atheist. Or in the form of: I believe X happens after you die.

But, I guess, as a form of belief of the kind that faith and belief in a religious sense, is obviously thought of as fact by an atheist and not as something that may or may not be true.

As the Flying Spaghetti Monster teaches us, if you were a good pirate, you get a beer volcano and a stripper factory.

I might add a quick quote by Joe Lewis; "Everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die." ~ If you are really a devoted follower of your god, are you not afraid of death, do you even look forward to death, as it will supply you with an eternity in bliss?

I won't answer in the poll, though. If I had to, I would vote "other", but I think that the option of something "other" means something spiritual, just something not mentioned, therefore I will not vote.

I am agnostic, if I ever have a divine experience, I am affected in any way by any alledged god, then I would turn to "faith", as that is the "agnostic way of life". I sound a wee bit like a douche, I know.

Anyhow, I've pondered about death sometimes, studying philosophy it came rather natural to wonder about things more than usual. What I personally believe is that "Death" is nonexistant, it is a term invented to describe something unknown, something alien. Who knows what death is? Is there reincarnation? Do you step into an elevator and hope to go up? Or does nothing happen, and will your body slowly be taken back by various insects and natural deterioration? No-one knows, even if there is a scientific explanation to what happens with your earhtly remains.

What happens when you take that last breath, close your eyes for the last time, what happens when you say goodbye to your loved ones, and let yourself slip into the eternal rest?

This will sound strange, but I look forward to living a long and happy life, to produce children, and hopefully live to see my childrens children - But I do regard "death" with more curiosity than fear, somehow I am excited to see what happens.
