When she gets tired. That's what I find works best. Although, at that age, people tend not to be the best judge of that sort of thing. I would say that 10:00-10:30 would be about the right time.

When you are younger, I would really recommend getting more than the bare minimum on sleep. Get her to bed at 10. Going off of bare minimum isn't helping anyone, least of all herself.

It really varies quite a lot depending on age, maturity, school, the day's events and the next day's events. If its has been a particularly eventful day, earlier bedtimes are good. If it was a really laid back slow day, sometimes staying up a bit later is good.

As for your sister I really can't say. Sometimes I stay up until 1 or 2 in the morning even on school nights when I have to be up by 6:30; sometimes I'm in bed by about 9:30 or 10. It all depends on how well you can function on lower levels of sleep.

To be honest I think that in general it is a bit ridiculous to stay up past 11 on a school night. I know what I'm like when I don't have much sleep. Sometimes I just get caught up in doing something that I don't even realize how late its gotten.
Well, school's out for the summer now, which is half the problem. As for the maturity, she's about the maturity level of a seven year old, and she falls asleep on the couch around 9:00, then screams and makes a fuss that she doesn't need] a bedtime.

Reasonable? I'd say around 10:00. That makes sure you're probably getting at least 8 hours of sleep.

When you're 14 it's probably better to get more sleep. Teenagers tend to get a lot less sleep than they actually need. By the time you're in college, I think you're capable enough to know what your body can handle though.

I'm only a year older than your sister, and seriously, sleep is vital. If she's sleeping at 12 and then getting up to go to school in the morning, chances are, she's not getting enough sleep. It'll wear her down and make it harder for her to concentrate. Her body also needs to recuperate, and she's probably still growing so sleep is important for that too. I go to a school where everyone stays up really late to do homework and then has to wake up very early (I get up at 5:30) to get to school, and I've seen the effects it can have over time.

I think 10 - 11 is a reasonable time; the earlier you get in bed, the earlier you can get started on actually falling asleep. Of course this entire post is hypocritical since I'm 15 and I think it's reasonable to not sleep at all as long as I have caffeine.

I'd also like to add that she stays up to watch reruns on the food network. Which really doesn't seem to warrant a later bedtime, especially when she watched the same episode earlier that day.

Ten is reasonable. That means she'd get eight hours of sleep in by six in the morning and can rise early or late, depending on whenever she feels like it and what she has on her plate that morning.

Granted, I can't think of a reason to stay up later. Television can be recorded, games can be saved, books can be marked, and most businesses and forms of recreation have closed by then. Unless she works a job with a night shift, why stay up to midnight, much less the wee hours?

any time is good as long she gets 8 hours of sleep or however much her body requires.

11:00. It is summer vacation though. I don't even hold to my answer either, I go to bed at anywhere between 5 and 10 am.

I'm 16, I try go to bed around 10pm on schooldays, that being said I don't fall asleep until about 2am.

I think 11 is good for her, 12 is good too.

But its summer, who gives a fuck. This is the time to stay up and party.

You know what, Gimme her number and I'll talk to her. ;p

For school? Well I go to bed at around 4:00 or 5:00 am for school, but that's probably not a good place to start. Well let's see, 14 is late middle school or early high school, whichever, but I remember getting up at like 5:30 back then so earlier than that ... I think I did midnight or 1:00, sometimes 2:00, back then.

I personally end up staying up until 2 and sometimes 3 am. It doesn't help I work nights and am out of school.

For a 14 year old, I'd say 10 or 11 pm, no later.
