I went with the original 101.

Edit: well there was supposed to be a poll where the only poll option was the original 101. :p

Hmm... Should I go with the first gen for extra poke-hipster points?

I kid, I kid. As much as I adored growing up with the first gen as a major part of my childhood, I feel that it was just kinda simplistic for my tastes. I think Gold would probably be my top choice for specific pokemon games. The gameplay was a little more refined, you had new pokemon in addition to your old favorites, and they gave us metal and dark types.

Edit: Went and got my generations mixed up... Curse me and my brain farts.

The original 101? What did you do with the 50 other first gen Pokemon? D:

I like the second generation the best, probably because I loved Gold/Silver/Crystal so much.

First two. Gold and Silver didn't blow my mind in anyway, but they were worth playing if only to extend the fun of Red while it lasted. Not to mention the fact that it was before I spun poketreats to cook them and stuck a million pieces of litter onto my unfortunate captured animals and taught them the cruelties of the world, about those eyes... so many judging eyes...

I haven't liked any of the legendary Pokemon past generation 1 (except Giratina is kinda cool, I guess). It just seems a bit crass to have more and more in every generation, to the point where they're now a main part of the storyline and you MUST capture one to progress.

I think legengdaries were better when they lived up to their name: hidden, hardly known about, rare...

That said, gameplay-wise, I think generation two had it best. Cleared up some of the balance issues and bugs from the first generation and had longer playtime, what with having two whole regions as your stomping ground.

So... Pokemon has definitely seemed cheaper as it's progressed. Overall I'm going with generation two.

Unova/Gen 5.
The first 151 were shit that wouldn't even make it past the concept stage if they were submitted nowadays.

Wait, where did the other 50 from 1st gen go?

OT: I don't know really, i have no problems with the newer ones, and some even include pokemon that i love.

2nd gen. Had some nice expansions and in game you could then go back to the first game's land.
The legends were epic and Dragonite was still a powerhouse.

After that though the new gens just started getting a bit weird.
£rd gen never really made a massive impression on me.]
4th gen you fight the creators of the universe. That's a bit weird.
I haven't played gen 5 and don't plan on it.

Basically the first sequel is normally the good sequel.

A tie between first generation and second generation. I loved the originals but I also loved the wide rarity the second generation made.

Best generation of pokemon? Johto/Hoenn tie for me.
Best generation of pokemon games? Johto beyond a shadow of a doubt. I would still rather play G/S/C than B/W.

EDIT: So...did you hide the other 50 originals? ._.

First generation for me. Like most of them. I like a lot of generation 2, some of generation 3 and very few of the rest.

The problem is that Palkia and Dialga are great, against non-ubers. Against other ubers, really only Arceus is a good 4th gen uber.

The third generation was the best, in my opinion. Abilities, EVs, Natures, and usable Dark moves made for a much more balanced meta.

Not to mention the only hazard was Spikes, and that was easy to get around. Moltres wasn't a horrible pokemon because of it's SR weakness, and Focus Sash was somewhat useful. Also, Drizzle/Drough were only in ubers.

1st or 4th. Not sure which. Problem is, I didn't play any G3 game because G2 bored me. So the next time I actually liked the games I was playing was the D/P era. And the Unova Pokémon half bore me. Some cool ones, but....Not enough really.
