My awesome killing-machine of a dog if that counts.
If not , the closest glass item i can find to shatter it on whatever the enemy's face is.

None of the normal objects in my house are practical for zombies because most of them require swinging room or aren't very strong weapons. If I had a katana, which I've been meaning to get for decoration, I'd use that as the bare minimum, but grab a firearm from Walmart if possible.

Frying Pan when heated up.

[sub]Because that's not obvious that I've played Dead Rising before.[/sub]

Well, I have a BB gun somewhere, and there are some nice wooden rods in my room, not to mention the nice, heavy Flying V guitar that could put a dent in a car, if used correctly. Yes, the guitar is my proverbial "baby", but if the need arose, I'd use it kill zombies.

Two katanas and an assortment of hunting and throwing knives. Plus an airsoft shotgun that could blind someone at medium range. A couple of wooden practice swords and a 6' staff that could break bone if necessary...

and that's just my bedroom...

I have a solid iron spit in the garage I use for cracking ice during winter.
(I live in the northern part of Sweden; lots of ice)
It's heavy as fuck and can easily be used as an effective weapon.
I'd say that it's far, FAR more effective than say a bat could ever be, due to its mass and range.
Can make you tired quite fast if you're not in shape though.

Shovel.
GIVE EM HELL BOYZ! *Bang shovel on head, realise that I'm not wearing a helmet, go into coma*
Seriously though, I would probaly pick the bow in the shed. It's intended for sport, not as a weapon ;).
Or if I'm not allowed that, then that metal pole which is in there (if zombies). If soldiers, well...I'm boned. BB gun I guess, hit them in the eye then bludgeon them :D

I am bit confused. Is this a thread more for what you would use as an improvised weapon, or is it about what could be the most usefull tool that isn't a weapon?

A crowbar is extremely handy, but after seeing what it can do to a human skull on the Mafia vs Yakuza episode of Deadliest Warrior (not sure how gangsters qualify as "warriors" but ok) I go baseball bat all the way!

Sledge Hammer is the most damaging and easiest to find of non-weapons that I can think of.
I am really questioning just how much of a "non-weapon" a sledgehammer actually is. Honestly it isn't a farcry from a warhammer!

I do have a paintball gun, and some paintballs that I could put in the freezer. . .

hmm, how about a SUPER LEXICON OF DOOM!!!!!!
It's a book that contains all information in the world (yes, even a zombie apocalypse survival guide) and it is also capable of smashing in skulls and break most things you drop it at. Locked door? No problem, it has a quick-guide in lock-picking, or you could just drop it on the lock, and it will be obliterated!

Serious choice: a home made "weapon" (the components were never intended to be used as weapons, does that count? =P) all I need is stuff I can find in my home.. It's pretty much a spear, that electrifies anything that touches the blade. (needed: lawnmower blade, source of electrical power, some wires (or whatever works for you), a stick or something, duct tape)

if I can't have that I would chose a water rifle, filled with petrol, and with a lighter attached to it. (or does that count as a home made weapon again?)

if I can't have that either, I'd just choose a good old fashioned long-handled axe... but only if the others are to "weapon"ish.
