I prefer to use it when typing normally like this but when i go full caps mode LIKE THIS I USE CAPS LOCK BECAUSE IT IS LESS WORK TO HOLD DOWN THE KEY ALL THE TIME! And see now im back to normal! Aint that fast? CAPS!!!! Normal! CAPS!!!! Normal! I also used it all the freaking time when my mouse broke and i had to go old school and use only the keyboard! Which kiddies believe it or not it is possible to do EVERYTHING on a computer without having a mouse!

I use it to type capitals, the symbols, have it bound together with a bunch of keys on WoW (eg. Shift + mouse button 4) but that's pretty much it.

In text edition: for uppercase letters.
In games: for "run" (except in Mass effect 2 where I use it for "cover/run/use").

I never use the caps lock key at all; actually, I usually physically remove it before playing L4D, otherwise I end up accidently pressing it while reaching for TAB, and end up typing in uppercase/shouting when chatting, I just put it back afterwards to avoid getting dust below the keys.

well i use it only for the #*)@ type functions but other wise i don't allow capitals to get in the way of my typing and if its a word that needs a capital i allow the spell checker to deal to it for me :)

I use caps lock to capitalise letters, it's really out of personal habit. I only use shift for punctuation.

I rarely use caps-lock nowadays. I use shift when for individual capital letters and occasionally sentences. I would use caps if I was going to write a novel in 100% caps though.

I use "Shift" all of the time.

I - very rarely - find myself ever using the "Caps Lock" key, though.

I use shift whenever I start sentences or a word starts with a capital letter. If I am going to write a couple words in capitals then I will use caps lock.

Pressing shit twice sucks ass.
Not for me, considering the fact that I stretch my fingers to use the top line of keys, and therefor have to capitalize with my pinky, and its a ***** trying to hold shit down with my pinky for the right amount of time.

I want to point out that I can type 80 words per minute.
I use the shift key with my pinky and I type like 40 words per hour

Are you kidding?

I use shift all the time. Rather shift than caps lock I tell you.

Caps lock is a shifty looking key, can't be trusted.
I see what you did there =]

OT: I feel like I don't use it that much, but thinking about it, I think I just press it without thinking "oh, I need to use a special character here" or something similar. So I probably use it a hell of a lot. More than I use the Z key at any rate.

I once knew this guy who'd always type with Caps Lock instead of Shift. Everytime he made mistakes because he forgot to turn it off, but no, he wouldn't change.
As for me I only use Caps if I want to TROLL TEH INTARNET BY SHOUTIN AT PEPUL!!!!!! for everything else there's Shift. And since proper german requires even more big letters than does english I have gotten so used to it I don't even move my pinkie consciously, it just shifts at the right time

I only use caps lock if two things happen:

1. I need to toggle auto run in a game.
2. I need to write in all caps. (I can't remember when I last had to do that.)

It baffles me that people would use caps lock for capitalizing their texts. It seems to me to be far less efficient and very prone to mistakes. As a minimum it would take one more press just to capitalize the start of a sentence and you can't use it for making any punctuation.

I wonder if it has something to do with word processors automatically capitalizing these days? If anyone uses that at all?

As an example, in this post I've pressed shift 15 times before starting this sentence. The same post would have required 20 presses of caps lock to capitalize and 5 presses of shift to do the symbols. That's 10 mores keystrokes. And that's on a tiny post. It really seems less efficient.

(I may have counted wrong but I think the point stands.)

I've never seen any particular point in using capslock, except entering serial numbers.
