Well i think I'm going to try to be scientific about this. I want to see if all this hype is genuine or if it's just fake. I've talked to all of my friends about Twilight and none of them like it or can explain why this is so big. so please if you're a fan of either the books or movies please explain to the rest of us why you like this.

Mods, can you PLEASE make an "Anti-Twilight Thread" rule? For me? Pretty please?

I enjoyed the first three books when I read them but I refuse to re-read them or read Breaking Dawn. I'll see the movies one day but that day is not soon.

Gamers don't really like pop-culture treands. (Emos, hippies, punks, and twilight for the most part) That's what I think at least.

Haven't read the books, enjoyed the movies as they are great to watch when you're not really focused and you can go 'Ooo, shiny!' And try and bat at them before you realise you can't...

But yeah, I find the films OK.

I also second this. We don't need another outbreak of Twilight threads like last night.

22 neither's. But if you want to be "scientific" this is not the forum to do it. Why? Because we are all smart intelligent individuals here (at least I hope we all are)

Have you read the books?
They're F****** hilarious!
Every single moment where she gets lovey dovey with either of them is a good time to remember your own awkward teenagehood and laugh about it.
I agree, the whole vampire thing was an offense to Vlad the impaler but passing that, and there is little enough of that that it's actually easy, this is great comedy.

They actually have one, they tend to lock most threads about it.

OP: There has been 5 of these in the past 3 days.

Stop making them. They are fucking boring.
Agreed,

@Everyone_esle, Do you want to derail this thread and make it into a new topic?

I am attracted to controvercy & tabboo (I blame Japan, for making weird fetishes readily-available), but Twilight isn;t my cup of tea. Let's put it this way...I stopped reading Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicals when Rice got all religeous & stopped making her vampires gay. Of course, the less controversial "gay" is, the less interesting it becomes. I dunno, maybe if they were all somehow blood related or Bella was a guy...As for them being different species; well that's too commonplace. I grew up with Gargoyles, Ninja Turtles, Biker Mice, Beauty & the Beast, & X-Men.

I also think the series is a bad influene on young women, just like WAGs, only in different ways. Actually, the WAGs are worse; someday their men will dump them & they'll be living in cardboard boxes & turning tricks for euros.

Um mods what this person said.

Op: twilight is liked because the girls won't just look up some porn even though its the same thing. Girls like it for the eye candy and the emotional mastubation they get from the books.

Seriously wtf there has been like 100 of these threads in the last month, half in the last few days.

And your are asking completely the wrong audience since most of the users here hate twilight.

I will also put my name on the partition for an "Anti-Twilight Thread" rule, or a rule that just forbids ANY thread on the topic, we all hate Twilight, we get it, so enough of these gog damn threads.

You're clearly new here.

Twilight is the biggest piece of shit literature released in the last 20 years, with roughly equal literary value to The Chronicles of Gor [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Gor], for similar reasons. The prose is appalling, the characters are INCREDIBLY flat and dull, the plots are unbelievably stupid and the overall themes are actively repulsive and offensive. The reason for all the hype is because it has "OMG PRETTY SPARKLY VAMPIRE MEN WHO CAN LOVE A PLAIN GIRL LIKE ME" in it. It's lowest-common-denominator crap aimed at the impressionable (and quite honestly rather dumb) female audience. By any reasonable aesthetic standard it's utter shit (not to mention offensive due to its horrible "stalking is love", "co-dependance is vital to a successful relationship" "beauty is the most important thing" messages) and the fact that it is a worldwide phenomenon doesn't change this one bit.

As I always say: can millions of screaming fans possibly be wrong? Well of course they fucking well can!'
