As a student I have currently read 4 of his plays, "A Midsummer Night's Dream", "Macbeth", "Othello", and "Hamlet", and have on my own read "Romeo and Juliet". Out of all of these plays I have not liked a single one, however the play to which I hold the least hatred is Hamlet. What is your favorite William Shakespeare play and why?

I've done a Midsummer Night's Dream, Romeo and Juliet, and Macbeth for school, and I really hated Romeo and Juliet but thoroughly enjoyed the other 2. However, we once went on a field trip to see one of his comedies, the name of which I can't recall, and it was hilarious. So the mystery play is my favourite.

if i'm remembering corectly Richard III was bad ass for a stage production
Richard III is easily one of Shakespeare's best plays and features one of the best villains in all of literature. It's not too often that someone can create a villain that is so endearing that the audience finds themselves sympathizing with him and even cheering him on. Plus... he's smooth as hell with the ladies.

Yes, one place else, if you will hear me name it.

LADY ANNE
Some dungeon.

GLOUCESTER
Your bed-chamber.

Macbeth is quite possibly my favorite play of all time. Something about it just clicked with me.

I read a lot of those in high school, but my favorite was The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. It's probably in part because our teacher was just really into that one himself, so we were able to enjoy the drama of it. It's the only one I remember pretty well today.

Henry V, bitches! Saint Crispin's Day speech. No more must be said. Second place goes to Hamlet, third to Macbeth. I actually like Shakespeare quite a lot, even though a great many of my friends find him boring. You should probably check out Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, which I surprisingly managed to spell correctly on the first try. It's a modern play inspir- you know what, just read the Wikipedia article. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosencrantz_and_Guildenstern_Are_Dead] The movie is great, and not just because you get to see Tim Roth, Garry Oldman, and Richard Dreyfuss all on screen together.

I liked King Lear for some reason. Anyways, I'm not a big Shakespeare fan. I feel his works have been far to over-analyzed.

King Lear is great. Oh, and Titus Andronicus is one of the most f*cked up plays ever, but it's a very cool revenge story.

Also, OP: You didn't like Macbeth? I'm surprised, it's one of Shakespeare's more interesting and fun plays.

My college had a rule about doing at least on play by the bard every year. While I enjoyed being in them the lines were terribly hard for me to learn because of my dyslexia so I wasn't always aware if what i said made sense or not. That being said I have played:
Tybalt
Cornwall
Iago
Edmund
In high school I was Oberon
Notice a pattern here? Apparently the people who directed plays I was in had some ideas about what Tall and solidly built people are like.

I've always liked Hamlet though. I especially like the king fu movie version.

I've read Romeo and Juliet twice for school, watched the play for A Midsummer's Night Dream, and also read Hamlet.

I've enjoyed everything but Romeo and Juliet. I still have no sympathy for either character and just look at them as complete idiots. When we had to write an essay on our English final of Freshman year saying who's fault we thought their deaths were, I blamed it all on them. Other that that, I really liked Hamlet and A Midsummer's Night Dream.
