I've read/seen produced many of his plays, but my favourite remains the one I studied in my final year of highschool - Hamlet. Macbeth is a close second.

The only one I have liked was Macbeth, I did hear Henry V was rather good but then again I can't stand plays so I'm not about to see it.

I've read a fair few of his works and I hate or am indifferent to all of them except Othello. Iago is such an awesome little bastard XD

Taming of the Shrew. Somthing about it just fills me with joy.
I'm also a big fan of Romeo and Juliet.
Hell, I just love Shakespeare, it's not a big secret.

Much Ado About Nothing and Twelfth Night are my two favorites. I've always liked his comedies, those were two that proved that romcoms (which I generally hate with a passion) can be done with wit and pathos.

Also, Macbeth, which is pretty much an Elizabethan slasher flick.

I would pick "Much Ado About Nothing." I think it's honestly the funniest, and the easiest for a regular person to pick up.

I'd also like to recommend the new Funimation anime "Romeo X Juliet" which takes a really refreshing look at a classic tale.

I hated Romeo & Juliet. I hated MacBeth even more (seriously, MacDuff's mom got a C-section and therefore he's not "of woman born"? What the fuck kind of plot twist is that?).

Hamlet, however, I love. It's actually a great story with great characters. I think Shakespeare is vastly, vastly overrated, but all things considered, I'd consider Hamlet the best play ever written.

I have a complete collection of Shakespeare's works sitting on my computer desk. I've read Macbeth and Romeo & Juliet thus far, and I might start on a couple of comedies, if anyone has a recommendation.

I tried that once, and let me tell you Hamlet is just as boring with Mel Gibson as it is any other way.

I was privileged enough to see "Richard II" performed by the Royal Shakespeare Society a few years back, and it remains my favorite.

As for Shakespeare's works themselves, my opinion is that they're wonderful plays, but PAINFUL to read as books.

Othello, naturally. It has it all - tragic love, engaging, idealistic, nobly endearing fools of protagonists, and a truly evil-to-the-core villain, who also happens to be a thinking man, subterfuge, intrigue, jealousy, lust, hate...all wrapped up in Shakespeare's poetry. Brilliant.

Don't ask me why I just do
I second this. I am actually taking a 400 level Shakespeare class: Romances and Comedies. We are currently reading The Tempest. I have had to read it for two other classes before this one.

I'll be taking the Histories and Tragedies class during my last semester next fall.
