I liked it but if I didn't like the story I wouldn't have bothered to play the game. Its more of a movie that lets you control the characters at certain parts than a game (think of it as such and it seems better). Sometimes it gets a little annoying though with having to hear the back story of everyone you kill.

The story is unique, mixing war with a Kojima twist (super soldiers, walking tanks etc), I love it. =)

It's over the top, unrealistic and has some very, very cheesy dialogue at times...

But oh do I love it so very much.

I loved MGS3...I think that is still the best MGS so far. Best storyline, and follows the legendary Big Boss. I got so involved with MGS3. MGS2 wasn't so good.
Same. I consider that game to be my favorite game of all time. I liked MGS2, but the storyline lost me. I still enjoyed the experience though.

The series is love/hate for me. I find its plots to be severely overcooked, but I respect the ambition of its creator. As the saying goes, it's better to aim high and fall short than to not try at all.

i love the MGS series, i like the story line and the characters i can't understand how people can complain that the cut scenes are long. i rather have an MGS style cutscene then a half-baked fable 2 scene.

Its good...but it has Raiden in it, and Raiden sucks ass...and so does half of Metal Gear Solid 2.
What didn't you like about MGS 2? It was my favourite personally, but then I only owned 2 and 4 (though I am familiar with the story in all of the central games).

I see your point about Raiden though, I try so hard to like him but he keeps letting me down...

OT: The stories are good, but only if you can keep up with them... Which is damn tricky at the best of times.

The fact that more than half of MGS2 is replaying MGS1 without Liquid Snake coming back from the dead 4 times, the fact that Kojima tried to fill up so much story/anti-war/patriotism in just one game and Raiden.

I'm not taking the time to read the other comments.

That said:

I enjoyed the Metal Gear Solid stories. I enjoyed the ideas, and while they were terribly convoluted, I mostly could follow and enjoy them, and it did lead to me actually being surprised a couple of times.

That said, it's also not terribly unbelievable, now that I've seen a lot of the weapons that were designed (and some fielded), ESPECIALLY by the Russians. Just... Holy Shiznits Russia!

That's pretty much all I've gotta say.

I don't mind the stories for the most part, but I do hate some of it's annoying exposition and down right senseless retarded moments. That and the annoying spoonfeeding of the general themes that the game is trying to get across, and if there is one thing I hate in a story, it's lack of subtlety.

I have the first 3 Metal Gear Solid games and I love their story lines. It's deep, dark gritty materials about war being fought behind enemy lines. I have to say that Psycho Mantis and Sniper Wolf are some of the most memorable bosses in gaming history (at least for me!).

I liked the first game. After that the plot got so OVEREXPLAINED. It would be a simple little thing. Then it would be explained 14 times in 10 minute long tirades.

So Indigo Dingo's finally been banned? Eh, feels different than I thought it would be.
Anyway, I liked MGS2, and have hopes for Rising.
I'm confused what was wrong with that specific post but... you just keep moving thru the desert, no time to mourn for the dead. Such is life.
