Personally, I HATE XBL. It's total bullshit that you have to pay for Multiplayer, Updates, and Other game features which are all available for FREE on PC. It's just another way of Microsoft to stick their hands into our pockets, as if they didn't have enough money already.

I don't mind paying a whole $3-4 a month, not when I get what you mention (multiplayer, updates, game features, etc.) plus party chat, Netflix, last.fm, the new ESPN channel, and bunches of other stuff. I'm no fanboy, but I think I get what I pay for.

And yes, it's all free on PC, I get it. But I likes my big TV and stereo. ;)

You don't actually have to pay for updates. And besides, the cost of an Xbox plus a years Gold membership is still cheaper than a PS3 or a decent spec PC.

Its alright... I mean sure you get a ton of stuff from paying, but you still have to pay just to play online.

actually microsoft is screwed I read today that compared to the tech in china microsofts best is obsolete and only 30% of ppl in china use there products. xbox live is microsofts last real money spinner, I personally think its cheap enough (got my year subscription on ebay for 30euro) and it keeps most knackers and scumbags off cos they are too poor to afford it lmfao.

Yeah, those damn businesses making money...

I'm not thrilled by it, but the way I see it, at less than £3 a month, it's worth it for the Party Chat alone. Things such as Inside Xbox are nice as well. It's never nice to have to pay for stuff, but it's pretty cheap all things considering.

Don't forget that 30% of China is still four-hundred million people.

I find that Xbox Live is a good system to play online games. The community is nice, as long as you stay away from Halo and Call of Duty.

Xbox Live is worth my money. There are systems on PC that are almost as good, for free. But if Microsoft wants to charge money for a service as useful as Live, they have the right.

I think Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft have it pretty much locked down.

It's adequate, but nowhere near as useful as on a PC. I already pay for the internet, so I'm not really a fan of spending more money to play online in servers that tend to be smaller and aren't dedicated.

I love XBL. Although you only managed to get one thing right. You pay for MP not updates or "other game features" (unless demos are included in that). DLC is available to all members. When you pay for XBL you pay for MP, discounts, demos, party chat and contests. As well as Facebook and probably a few of those other non gaming features that I don't use.

PSN is the one that charges for auto updates.

I like all the video updates and the marketplace, but not really a big fan of the community itself.

And I think microsoft points are complete crap. I can't count the times I've been 10 points short of buying something. Can't we just buy a game at a given price instead?

I love it. It doesn't even matter how much it costs, really, because I know I get my use out of it.
