Don't have the money to buy a car as I'm in university and on student loans and live with my mom in our crappy apartment. But she drives a 2005 Toyota Corolla and i drive that sometimes... besides that public transport ftw! Even if OC transpo is painfully bad.

4 speed manual with overdrive
4.0 liters of American steel!

Hey, someone had to bring some power to this discussion.
I don't know much about trucks but how come it's only got a 4 speed with overdrive rather than 5 gears or even 6?

I drive a 1998 Peugeout 106 1.1 and I love it, it handles like a go-kart.

I've got a family, so I have the wonderfully stereotypical '94 Volvo Wagon. Also, I have a cane with what I may shake at whipersnappers to get off my lawn.

I'm german...sooooo:)

but otherwise i would also drive a german car...cause they're THAT good ;P

p.s.: BMW 325i 2.5L 160kw(218PS)
Only in Europe, elsewhere they have the "it's europian and therefore marketed as being upper class, multiply the cost of everything by 10". $100k for a 3 series/c class/A4 is a fucking joke. [sub]I'm saving for an oldschool 911, they are sexy, cheap, sexy and will run forever.[/sub]

At the moment I'm driving a 1994 nissan pulsar Q pack (that's the n14 for those of you who know about these things, the one they made a rally car out of. Mine is not the GTiR however). It has a gas conversion, so basicially I'm cruising around in what is possibly the cheapest car to run in melbourne. The only way I can maintain any dignity is that it's at least a manual (I'm studying mechanical engineering, my car is kind of a running joke among my uni mates).

Like I said above, I plan on buying an old porsche and doing it up sometime in the near future, but it's looking like I have to wait until 25 unless I want the generic discrimination tax. The media makes out that young males are the most dangerous drivers, yet there are 3 other groups that are far more likely to be involved in a crash (statisticially, it's kinda retarded to judge the likelyness of one to be involved in a crash based on anything other than average time spent driving during the period of time and overall experience). (Both male and female over 65s, accounting for 8% of all accidents in the state of victoria, not particularly scary until you realise they account for 7% of drivers...damn fucking scary when you realise they don't typicially have to drive across town to work/uni/whatever, the other high demographic being 35-45 year old males, not sure why). Anyway, that got off topic fast, I tend to get angry when I think about the driving restrictions that both the state government and insurance companys force upon me.

My favorite cars are british (particularly Aston Martins, but I love some of the older Jags and Minis), both german and japanese cars also appeal to me (especially porsches and non-impreza subarus) however there are general traits I dislike about both (german cars tend to be absurdly expensive in Australia and japanese cars tend to be associated with douchebags, I also hate the "soft" SUV trend, which both countries seem to export a lot of).

97 ford taurus station wagon as daily driver.

Why is there no american option ?
I had a 96 Taurus sedan as my first car. It wasn't a wagon, but I loved my Taurus. I have a Focus now because it was cheap to buy and cheap to drive.

There is no American option because it's fashionable to make fun of America these days I guess, despite for the longest time GM was the world's largest auto manufacturer (GM previously led in global sales for 77 consecutive years (1931 to 2007), longer than any other automaker), and was only beaten out by Toyota recently with the help of smart government lobbying on Japan's end and dumb lobbying on America's end boosted by global recession (and I won't even mention the UAW).

No "American" option? Either the Op isn't from the States or he has it in for Detroit (can't say I blame him, though).

I drive a Pontiac Grand Am, an '05, the last year they made 'em. And I love her so...

No offense but the topic says "the BEST cars are" .. although I would make a compromise and put US cars instead of French wich are mostly rubbish.

I ride a bus to college. It struggles up a gentle slope. And it's not mine. Does it count?

Oh, and it has the highest concentration of strange people per m² in the whole of England. Seriously, we have a weird guy of intedeterminate age who weares a pink/green jumpsuit, has a squeaky voice, and clumps of dandruff in his hair. We also have two small kids, one Iraqi and one Chinese, who are constantly fighting, a guy who answers only to the name 'Egg' and a Greek guy who burns his own dick. Seriously, I can think of two or three more, but for the sake of brevity I'll leave it at that.
