Poll: What kind of Game Spender are You?

An interesting idea for a poll I've had for a while. By now you probably have a pretty good idea of what kind of Gamer you are. But how does this affect what you buy as far as games go? I've given some pre-set options but if you feel you don't fit to any of them well enough try and share with us what kind of spender (or lack thereof) you are. Without further delay, here is the descriptions.

Infinite Budget Wonder- Stable job, little to no more expensive hobbies, and lots of spare time. Your money goes to YOUR enjoyment of games. A new game announced that you may be interested in? Pre-ordered, super ridiculous bonus edition, payed in full. You can hardly recall a night where you were bored with what you currently have. And on that night you went out and bought 3 more games.

Window Shopper- The polar opposite of the former. You enjoy looking at games and watching your friends play them but you own next to none of your own. If a game really catches your interest and a friend isn't willing to let you play it it's time you went to your local renter. This isn't just for those down in the gutter financially; if you honestly feel your hard earned money needs to be put elsewhere then so be it. We ain't judging...much...

Game Connoisseur- You have a certain knack for quality. Before a game comes out you know how it's going to turn out and whether it's worth your money. You also own all the classics, many a game systems, and enough time to actually use them. No need to monitor your money so closely, you hardly spend any cash on anything below triple A quality. If someone has said it's pretty good you already have it on your "games I'll eventually rent" list.

Wasteland Trader- If there's a game out there that your friends have yet to procure it's yours to buy. That's where the complications start. You buy game A and everyone else will cover the rest of the Alphabet. Tired of your boring old A? Time to hand it over for that Q you've been eying. Eventually everyone will lose interest in Q however. That's when it goes to the nearest trade-in store for some money towards Z. After all, Q is so 3 weeks ago.

Speedster- Ooo, that game looks cool. Bam! Done. Oh wow, look at that one! One return later and your playing your new favorite game for 10 hours. But that was 10 hours ago! By now that's been returned and you've been stuck in an RPG for a good 14 or so. And then when THAT'S over well...I think you see the point. Rentals are what you live by and what you may die by. Why bother with buying when you can get 6 or so games, play them to completion, and return them for the same price? People must not be thinking clearly or someth...Ooo look that one!

Hoarder of Things- You buy games. You have tons of games. Maybe even too many games... Take a look at your nearest game shelf. Is it bursting out, onto the floor, and possibly onto your bed? Chances are a lot of those games you keep around because you might end up playing them again one day. But is that copy of Quake 4 really going to be booted up again in the near future? Doubtful, but you'd be damned if it ever saw the inside of a Game-Stop. When you buy a game it's there to stay.

Genre Shut In- Shooters, Adventure Games, and Maybe the occasional RPG. Racing games? You laugh at the prospect of turning for hours on end. Generally speaking, you know what you like and very rarely deviate. Trying out a Sports game will probably be remembered as some form of alcohol induced college experiment (and not the good kind). If it doesn't have that seal of quality that you've invented then it's not worth touching. You might poke it with a very long stick every now and then but that's about it.

I'm personally more of a Game Connoisseur just so I get the gist of what's happening as far as good games go. Though I do have tendencies of the others as well. If you fit the bill then tell us why and maybe some personal experiences. Don't be afraid to create your own title (that's where half the fun in making this thread came from anyways).

Well I used to be Infinite Budget Wonder, but now that I actually HAVE a budget I'm more of the Game Connoisseur.

I'm a combo of Infinite Budget Wonder and Genre Shut In, I only play Shooters, RPGs, and JRPs.

I seem to be a combo of Horder of Things and Game Connoisseur, with a bit of Genre Shut In on the side.

I'd say Wasteland Trader best describes me. There are those few games I'll never sell, but I usually sell a few old games to help pay for a new one. I just recently built up a little over $200 in store credit in preparation for the next few months of upcoming games.

I'm a genre shut-in, but within my genres of choice (strategy and simulation in various forms) I often venture into Infinite Budget Wonder territory. Lately I've had to be a bit more selective, but eventually my game list manages to get complete, usually during the spring downtime for new releases.

I'm sort of a casual gamer, BUT WAIT! Hold your flame! I just don't buy the latest games, and just got my first current gen console last week. The closest, I am, to any on the list, would be the Game Connoisseur. Most of the games I own are old, but good.

Wasteland Trader. I buy used (usually on eBay, woot for 20 dollar games), sell at Gamestop (woot for selling games at the same price I bought them), rinse and repeat.

I'm kind of a genre shut-in, but I do sample genres I usually don't like if they look like their bringing something different to the table.

Mix of Infinite Budget Wonder, and Game Connoisseur.

I have lots of money to spend on games that are good, and few that aren't.

LIFE...IS...GOOD.

As far as I can tell I'm sort of a mix between a Window Shopper and a Game Connoisseur, I don't have the biggest budget seeing as how I have no job, so I can't buy many games, but when I CAN get a game I go straight for quality.

Great thread. I'm a Game Connoisseur, and it's nice to see people actually pondering over games they want to buy rather then throwing their money away on hype, etc.

I wouldn't say an inate talent for quality, per se, but rather a sense of what games will be fun to play regardless of quality. I remember playing a game for 3 hours straight that probably could have been run on a computer from the early 90's, yet had a blast, while a "high quality" game like Battle for Middle Earth II left me underwhelmed (I'm an avid RTS fan). I can't say what I look at, I just have some sort of sixth sense for what is fun.

I'm a hoarder. Even if I don't play a game anymore, it's just really wrenching to sell it. In fact the only games I've sold are GBA games and Shadow the Hedgehog.

I'm a hoarder. Only if a game is particularly shit (i'm looking at you CoD 3) will I trade it in out of disgust.

What about someone who just buys on a budget? I usually wait for the price of a game to drop to $20 with all DLC included. If I'm real excited about a game, then I pre-order. I could fit in with a few categories, but I never rent and sometimes I buy mediocre games because the story is interesting.

Closer to connoisseur but I mostly just buy games slowly and only buy games I know I'll like. I don't have the time for lots of junk. I wouldn't say they are all good but hey, I try to make them count.
