I'm definitely a battler. I love seeing my pokémon grow, having them evolve, learn new moves... I don't like having loads of pokémon, I like having my team and only my team in top form.
I also get really fond of my pokémon.

Catcher is too tedious, even when cheating. Breeder, ditto, as it takes way too long to get what you want and then level them up. Trader... I've traded a bit (who hasn't?) but I wouldn't make a career out of it, as I grow somewhat attached to my minions. As for Co-ordinator, I only do that for the rewards.

So that leaves Battler.

Like the chorus says... GOTTA CATCH 'EM ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL, POKEMON.

I mean, yea, I like battling too, but collecting is my deal.

I usually look through a guide, find the Pokemon I want, only catch them (while using subs in the mean time) and then level the hell out of them.

I guess I would be a Battler.

I never had the patience to catch em all - they only time I did was in Red when I cloned the master ball and there were only 150 of them! Now there're like 700 of them, and I dont have unlimited master balls so no chance =D

As for breeding, the only time I ever tried that was in Silver when I wanted all the Eevee evolutions and thus tried to do that. It was taking too long so I gave up and never looked back.

Im a Battler all the way. Make a team (always including my starter) as I go through the game that covers all the more major types, make them unstoppable and eventually take on the league when they're all beastly. I kinda get attached to them when Ive had them long enough - I really do love that aspect of the games.

Third generation. Breed Alakazam to know fire punch, ice punch and thunderpunch. And teach it psychic. With a modest nature, everything it meets is doomed.

Why isn't there an "other" option.
Then again, my choice isn't really a trainer...
more of a sniper.
Anyone guess why?
No clue why, but I do agree we're missing an "other" option.

Pokemon is a wonderful example of how far a purely marketed franchise can become a monstrous beast with no end in sight.

And I would be damned if I didn't admit I fell for red, blue, and yellow... and the original show... and played in tournaments on the n64. Yes I was a badass...

sigh, how did I not see it when I was a kid.

I'm a Catcher first, and Battler second.

These two aspects almost never get in the way of each other, so I tend to maximize both: I create a single team built to tackle every single type, while obsessively sticking around a patch of grass until I've caught all pokemon who aren't on my Pokedex yet (I even evolve them cheaply, using Exp. Share, then dump them back in their boxen when they evolve)

Battler is most fun, of course, but a true Pokemon master would do it all.

...and, of course, you forgot the option for the person who would just catch a few of his favorites and then just live with them as pets forever.

I do a lot of those, but my main purpose is battling. I catch a lot, completed a couple pokedex, working on national in B/W. I trade a bit, usually my friend will catch my team and I'll catch his so we can have boosted XP. I breed a lot, but only to further my dex or make the perfect pokemon for my team (need those IVs and natures just so, sometimes particular moves). Mostly though I battle. I battle my friends, I battle in the subway, I battle online. I follow what's going on with the metagame so I know if I need to squeeze in ariel ace for double team or put in a slow guy for trick room. I love battling, it's the main aspect of pokemon and it has the deepest mechanics among the various activities in the game.

The last Pokemon game I played was Blue, back in the day.

What is this 'breeding' nonsense? :p

Just a Raticate, and me. Makes the games interesting and a lot cooler, if you have only one pokemon and pick him on how much you like it, rather than power.
