Hypocricy (as mentioned before, such as the MJ bullshit) and large amounts of stupidity. I just can't stand stupid people/corporations/groups. I really need to work on that actually, my patience level is quite low.

The objectification of women and "how a real woman is suppose to look". You know if you don't look like an anoerexic barbie doll you aren't pretty and all that......just really rubs me the wrong way

Oh sheez, good call. On both fronts too, the individuals who promote it and the women who allow themselves to be used in said promotion. Women in this day n' age get it from all sides. Their significant others see it in the media, then apply it to their own thinking (for some incredibly stupid reason, instead of making their own damn minds up on the subject) bombarding them with it even more. So not only are they now having to deal with the media, but also having to listen to the people they truly care about spouting the same crap. I don't care who you are, that shit eventually sinks in and can tarnish you. *grumble*

It's not what you're watching, it's how you're watching it that matters.

My great uncle said something like that.

glad someone agrees. historically if you look at it, and i pointed this out to a high school girl, the bigger you were the more attractive you were because you HAD money to buy food. Why can't we go to some semblance of middle ground between the two? Bettie Page and Marilyn Monroe were both considered "fat" by the standards of society at the time but they were gorgeous women who were just bigger than the average stick figure model. Personally I'm a big fan of the "Please Feed the Models" shirts

Yup, larger women (and i use that term loosely), were much more attractive during colonial days and such because you were wealthy enough to be well fed. Granted we're not talking morbidly obese here, but definitely packing some extra. For some reason (be it popular culture or whatever) that ideal took a complete 180 and changed into this "twiggy" era.

Fortunately I've noticed in recent years, a healthier outlook has been starting to peek its way through. Not only models who actually have *gasp* curves and don't look like prepubescent boys, but also women with imperfections. I forgot the name of that one model, she was the host for Top Chef for a couple seasons or something. She has a large scar on her arm from an accident as a child, yet she is a professional model and is quite popular. She blatantly displays it without any makeup, in essence saying, "here I am, if you don't like it too bad, I'm still beautiful." Imperfection is a good thing. Many of the most beautiful things in life have imperfections, yet in essence are made perfect by their imperfections. Stop glorifying these effed up ideals of what the media thinks a woman "should" be.

If you find your girl attractive (as you should, love in and of itself enhances physical attraction), then tell her and show her. Start helping to wipe away the tarnish that's so taken root on our society.

I'd say the lack of buff scantily clothed men. I'm all for the guys having some eye candy, but it would be nice for us ladies to have some too!

I am offended when I feel that whatever I'm watching/listening/reading totally underestimates my intellectual capabilities. For example, I hate it when a documentary preaches to me with a patronising tone. Like, "This is wrong, you should feel terrible". No, seriously, I can make my own deductions and opinions, you're not telling me what to think.

Bias, particularly of the political variety. It can be anything from comedy to news, but seriously. It got old.

MANY things annoy me about the media

1)I hate how women and celebs, in order to be beautiful must look like barbie dolls. It causes a lot of stress for women who do not look like barbie dolls, and grossly simplifies what "beauty" is.
Further more, i hate how women are used to sell products. How shallow and stupid do you have to be to buy a product because its associated with a hot women?

2)I hate romantic novels and films which assume that everyone must find someone who they will magically fall in love with at first sight and live happily ever after for the rest of their lives. I also don't like how a woman's ideal man is portrayed in romantic media. Hes a handsome, confident, extroverted charma. I'm sorry but 95% of the male population are not like that- most (i say most, im making a guided generalisation) men who are good lucking and confident/extraverted are jerks- and women all fall in love with them, only to have their heart broken later when they realize that they really are jerks.

3)I hate newspapers expressing opinions which are based on bias and fear, rather than rational judgment. (Daily Mail *cough cough*)- One comedian expressed this problem quite well from Mock the Week - "Dont go outside! Its full of gays, queers and black people! Oh if only Diana was here!" (on the Daily Mail)
Fear of the unknown, i hate it, this is why we experience the old zeitgeist of the bias against new ideas- gaming, mobile phones, comic books, novels etc.. all received bias from the media when they where new because people fear the unknown. Fear breeds bias, which leads to foolish opinions as they are not founded upon a reasoned judgment.

As much as the media have informed the masses, they have misguided the masses to an equal measure.

This. Exactly what I was thinking. It's people that cling to political correctness that will be the downfall of society as we know it. These are the people that need to be taken out back and shot.
