Really? Really? do you ACTUALLY use 6gb ram? and why do you need 64 bit? its marketing.

"The frustrating thing about 64bit is peoples misunderstanding of it. The reality is, unless an application needs more than 4GB of ram there is no need to make it 64bit.. it actually hurts.. as it ends up using more ram (64bit pointers instead of 32bit pointers). All of the enhancements 64bit would normally get (wider memory instruction sets) have been available for YEARS under the names of 3dnow, SSE, SSE 2, etc... So the perfomance boost of being able to copy 64bits at a time (actually with those extra instruction sets we can copy 128bits at a time) are already available.. So 64bit is only useful for database, video, and 3d rendering, or any other app that REALLY needs more ram." - Urkle

Vista wasn't as bad as everyone said it was, but I really did like the features they were showing for Windows 7.
W7 is vista with a new coat of paint and a few more shiny bits.

"what they should do is release vista sp1 with a new gui ad a few tweaks as W7" Windows 7 was my idea.

and I use W7Ult64. cuz I got it free. twice.
Yes, I do. Adobe Lightroom uses 6GB of RAM and more.

I'm finding 7 quite lovely and have no plans to turn back unless my PC blows up and I have to return to an old 1gb rig.
Even then W7 throttling is amazing, DL the WAIK and Vlite to take out the flare and it can run Fine on a 286. Trust me its greatness as a Windows OS goes.

Ubuntu Lucid Lynx. I had to learn Linux for my programming and so decided to install a Linux distribution on my laptop.

Windows 7 64 bit and OSX Snow Leopard are my current main operating systems. Although I'm looking more and more at setting up a Linux station in the house somewhere.

I use WIndows 7 because it was the operating system included in the buy of my computer and it works ver well. Took me a couple of months to find the new fancy search engine and System Shock 2 won't show it's cinematics but otherwise it works flawlesly.

As a sidenote, I also got a Mac so I use OS X frequently

I use Ubuntu 10.04 (A Linux Distro if you didn't know).
I've used XP, Windows 7, Mac OS X, and Linux and I have to say that Linux is the most satisfying I have ever used. If game devs support Linux a little more I'll never need Microsoft's POS ever again.

Edit: Don't read if you don't have any problems with my first statements. Some elaboration. I'm not a long time user, I did not grow up with the OS, I'm not a programming genius (any programming that you need to do with Linux is a Google search away, so none of that "need to know how to program" crap). I've only been using the OS for about a year and had been using Windows XP at home and Mac OS X at school, I have a Windows 7 partition on my computer but it is only used for games not available on Linux so it's really only used occasionally with all my other tasks being on Linux.

Linux. Windows is frustrating and buggy as fuck, and I hate Apple. Linux works perfectly, it runs all the games I ever play either natively (Penumbra, Neverball, etc.) or perfectly in Wine (Starcraft, Steam, yeah). The only thing I gripe about is that the printer I own doesn't have a Linux driver, but that's because it was a crappy one I got for free so I can't complain much anyway. I love the system, I love how everything's free and it's all so easy to make my own. I have access to everything, nothing is beyond my control, I never get viruses, it never, ever crashes or bugs out, it's all too perfect to be true, but it is true. And free. I love Linux. Yep.

Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit. It gets annoying when I'm trying to run either really old games, or really new games. I've been trying and failing to get System Shock 2 to work for 2 and a half years now.

Windows 7 64 Bit. Although I almost wish I still had XP and games were made for it still. It just seemed to run better than this...Oh well.

Amen ^_^ Have you tried Wine? It's not perfect but it does the job. Also there are probably more games specifically for Linux than there are for Windows, if you know where to look.

I use Windows 7 but I'm thinking about setting up a dual boot system with Linux so I can browse the interweb with less paranoia.

Windows 7 Ultimate

Because I can. 64-bit naturally.

I tried Ubuntu a couple of times, but it just isn't my cup of tea.

I voted Vista-64 but I also run a linux mint boot which I use for general web use because I got sick of running virus scans (because I used facebook in explorer most likely) but linux has some problems I haven't bothered trying to fix yet, such as massive frame rate drop when I full screen a flashplayer.

Windows XP. I despise Vista on my laptop. Why do I have to keep verifying that I want to do something? Does a toilet seat come up to my ass and ask if I need to take a mc'dump?! RAAAAAGE! *calms down*

Windows XP because when my dad got this computer like 5 years ago that's what the bloke who built it put on it. I like XP more than Vista and 7.
