I use Linux for serious business, because that business generally involves software development. And because I don't like the idea of a corporation dictating how my computer works, often without telling me.

Debian, Ubuntu, Gentoo, Arch, they're all good.

I use XP and 7 for games. But hopefully not for long, with a native Linux Steam client supposedly in the works.

Vista because it came installed on my laptop, and I don't have the money to upgrade.

I have Windows 7, one reason I own Windows 7 is because some games run better on it because of the RAM and also I own Windows 7 because my college is giving it out for free to any person who is majoring in graphic design.

Vista 64 bit, I bought it with a free coupon for Windows 7, but I forgot I had it and the deadline passed for me to redeem it. *sigh*. I have Windows Vista 64 bit Business Edition (Which is supposed to be much better than Home edition. For those looking at Vista, I am told that Home edition is the source of most of Vista's problems). Once I upgraded to the latest service pack, I haven't had any problems, the system works like a charm. My only complaint however, is the account user control, which is nice when it comes to security, but is really annoying and gets in the way of just about EVERYTHING. What's funny is that windows has always had user account control, but only in Vista has it become this intrusive. I haven't disabled it yet. But actually the thing that REALLY bugs me, is Vista's default setting of organizing folders. If you have like, more than 3 songs in a folder, it will automatically change the organization tabs to "Genre", "Star rating", "Artist", "Length". This is quite frustrating since I use iTunes and don't do any music organizing using Windows Explorer. I prefer to just use organize by "Name", "Type", and "Date Modified" for everything.

I alternate between using Ubuntu and XP and Vista. I use XP on my desktop and sometimes Ubuntu because things that Windows does can be fixed with Ubuntu. Vista because it came with my laptop and I can't use anything else on it for some reason.

I use OS X because it's just the most pleasant operating system I've ever come across, and Boot Camp ensures that I'm not limited in terms of what games I can play. That's really all there is to it.

Windows 7 Home Premium (I.e. the cheapest one at 80 wuid at amazon or something)
and Ubuntu 10.0something, I forget .04 maybe?
I like it I tried having windows 7 and opensuse, and then opensuse with a windows 7 virtualbox, and then what I have now.
(How many installs does windows 7 have I'm on my fourth right now and havent had to beg microsoft to let me use it more yet.)

It's easy to figure out with Ubuntu releases, the first section is the release year, the second is the month.

Example: 10.04 = 2010.April
Thanks that does simplify it, but I don't remember how long ago it was, probably 10.04 though

Windows 7 because it came with the computer... a couple of computers in my house have Ubuntu on them, but I could never get into it... mostly because most programs didn't work... everyone says there are third party programs that are free for Ubuntu, but most of those are seriously awful.

The thing is, I'm a gamer so I need Windows 7. My dad codes, so he needs Ubuntu. It all depends on what yo need out of a system.

Are the window buttons on the left? They switched it with 10.04 so if it's not got them on the left (and you haven't changed it) it's 10.04, at least until October when we get 10.10!
They're at the top

Windows XP Home SP3.

It does everything I need it to do without using too many system resources. I refuse to touch Vista with a bargepole, and Windows 7 doesn't offer me anything I can't find a good substitute for on XP (apart from DX11).

I don't like MACs. (Not going to even bother justifying myself).

Linux isn't really noob friendly for if I just want to run games.
