I'm not sure if this has been asked, I didn't read through 7 pages of posts...

But I'm wondering why it is that Atheism seems to be on the rise as of late. I mean, I have no problem with people claiming atheism as their perspective. However, there have been many people that I have conversed with lately who seemed to be of Atheistic nature simply because they think "believing in God is dumb" with no further argument.

Since when did it become badass to be an atheist?

And you know that all of these ignorant fools are wandering around somewhere giving our outlook a bad name. It's far too easy to come across people attacking theistic views with nothing more than "Oh haha, you believe in God? I guess you believe in faeries and Santa, right?"

It does not bode well for those of us who actually took time to look into Religions before deciding what path was correct for us. You know, those of us who believe more than "God = Christianity, No God = Atheism."

because for some people i think that its easier for them to not believe that way they think that they can do what they want without a punishment for information uupoon what i believe look to the post above and i will happily debate it

I am an animist in a loose sense of the term. I don't really have any religion that I readily adhere to the beliefs of. I revere, write publications on and iconize dragons, if that's religious I guess my religion involves dragons somehow.

I found a fellow Animist!! Even if it is in a loose sense.

I am also an Animist, though I focus most of my beliefs on the respect of the spirits within nature and natural entities and I believe certain animals to be sacred.

Why is Agnosticism lumped in with Atheism..?

One is the option of not taking a side because you do not feel there is enough evidence either way, but accepting each side has merits, while the other is denying the very existence of any form of God.

I am not voting, I am Atheist I dont follow a religion... even though you have put it up there I am still not voting because that would be saying that it is... it isn't.

Dont make me get into an arguement with you because the last guy I got into an argument about this with proved himself wrong twice... I literally have to do nothing and I assume that if you think it is a religion then you are as misguided as he is and will end up proving yourself wrong with the FIRST piece of evidence you go for! So I advise you now, you will be wasting both of our time if you say that it is... Just look at the FIRST piece of evidence you would bring to the table and see how you are wrong, dont embarass yourself with what would be a VERY long argument... seriously, it would only end if the thread got locked OR you admitted defeat. Thats how the last one ended and I think that one went on for 3 days, and that guy was super arrogant and couldnt accept loss.

Atheism ins't a religion

Actually in technicality it is, and atheists hate it when you call it a religion, even though in the back of their heads they know that they're following one.


Agnosticism ftw mates. Unbiased is the best way to go.

Probably already said before in one of the many pages of this thread, but Atheism isn't a religion, because the meaning of the word "Atheism" literally mean's "No theism".

Theism:
1. the belief in one God as the creator and ruler of the universe, without rejection of revelation (distinguished from deism ).
2. belief in the existence of a god or gods (opposed to atheism ).

Thus we have no belief, only disbelief until said claims can be proven.
