Where the fuck is the Pastafarian choice? Seriously, how could you not include COFSM
I was just wondering that same question... I mean surely Pastafarianism should be up there instead of mormonism.

You know what we need, some big controversy to happen so we can get off these religion topics. Normally I dont have a problem discussing religion but about 90% of the people on this forum arent mature enough to know the difference between having a discussion about religion and bashing religion. Still I guess this particular topic is fairly tame in that regard.

I personally wouldnt count Atheism/Agnosticism (I know there is a slight difference but I dont distinguish really)or Scientology as religions. I mean one is basically a lack of religion and the other is an absolute farce.

Now I know im gonna catch flames for this next part but I dont really care, its just what I personally believe:

Mormonism and Islam really could be considered cults since both of them are basically founded on the belief that there is some sort of divine hidden knowledge that Christians are missing out on. Both are still technically valid religions.

Christian, non-denominational. A lot of people don't understand what that means, I find.
Same as Logician here. It's so very irritating explaining that I'm not Methodist, Catholic, or anything. Just Christian.

Hm. I wonder why so many people on these forums are atheists. Yes I'm an atheist, but it's a bit odd, isn't it? Are gamers more atheistic or just people on this forum?

I'm also a nondenominational (that's a awfully long word) Christian, but I also find my self heavily influenced by both Zen Buddhism and Taoism. As for all the ranting about Atheism being a religion, it can be. It just isn't always. Agnosticism is even less likely to be religion, because it doesn't really mean anything other than "I am not certain."

And based on several arguments mentioned, Buddhism and Confucianism (no offense to either) might also be considered not religions. As for Scientology, it's a religion, it just a very surreal one that seems to be better at making money and attracting weird celebrity types more than most "Fad" religions.

I would have to agree that pagan and Wiccan are even less well defined than atheist, and kind of useless terms. Most people I know who are one are just as likely the other, in a sense.

As for Satanism, I've met a few, all of the atheistic variety, save for one, who's a mix of satanist and neo-pagan. Sort of. He's unique, to say the least.

When you limit it to 8, you're absolutely guaranteed to offend a LOT of people.

I'm polytheist (I don't like the term "pagan" because of the hippie fruitcake nature-worshipper implications). I start with the belief that the Romans, Greeks, and Norse were on the right track as far as theology goes, then assemble a code of morality based on worldwide myths, legends, and religions (including the major monotheistic faiths and Eastern religions). It basically boils down to "be moral and decent and honor the gods".

Of course, even polytheists have "favorite" gods, and I'm no different---the god of trade and commerce, the god of knowledge, wisdom, and enlightenment, and the goddess of love, beauty, and fertility figure very heavily into my religious beliefs.

Very much Agnostic at this point.
I haven't found anything particular worth believing in or rather, haven't studied any religions interesting enough to follow.
Blah.

Frankly most atheists i know are practicing a religion. i mean for starters they quote the god delusion like Christians quote the bible and almost seem to worship there accomplishments.
Not entirely true in my experience. You will find a lot of atheists think The God Delusion is a heap of steaming crap [http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/03/books/03beliefs.html].
