Firefly. So I can find a backwater town, drop a pile of money on it and get the town named after me :) (obscure reference ahoy!)
There would also have to be a statue of your likeness, of course.

I wasn't sure wether to go for starship troopers or '40K
I went Terran Federation.
Would you like to know more?
I'm guessing Starcraft right? (Don't hurt me if I'm wrong) I probably went too fast in the "think up a future" phase, but you can still tell us why you like it. :)

Mass Effect, so many aliens. I would get to hang out on my spaceship kickin' it with some Krogans and my hot Asari babe.

Of the options, definitely Firefly. I've probably not thought my reasons through very well, but I just love Firefly so much (and I love Serenity even more) that I couldn't in good conscience vote for anything else.

Whaaaaaa???
The Terran Federation's Network has a Link in the corner labeled 'Would You Like To Know More?'. and it is said alot in the movie (but not the book. It appears in at least one of the games.)

I don't know anything about starcraft :p

You would have to be out of your mind to want to live in the 40k universe, how depressing would that be...

Foundation after the fall of the empire. When foundation only controlled a handful of planets.

I'd want to live in the universe with the highest quality of life for the average person. That would be Star Trek. Transporters, those machines that can make any food out of stray particles, and holodecks? Sign me up!

Personally, I chose Mass Effect because I just think it's one of the more 'realistic' sci-fi futures out there. It's not completely utopian (Star Trek) and it's not completely bleak (WAAAGH) either. The tech makes sense and so does the intricate inter-species political spheres and how humanity reached for the stars. God, I hope our future's like Mass Effect's. Except, you know, for that Reaper bit. Heh.

Dune.

Or Anne McAffrey's dragon series.

Edit - I prefer worlds in literature than movies or games as you can imagine them slightly differently.

In the poll, warhammer 40k all the way.

Sorry dude, but i feel that the OP left one of the greatest Sci-Fi civilizations out of his little poll, and that is the "Fundation" of Isaac Asimov
i love those books

Probably Star Trek. For reading and watching, I prefer Firefly and Warhammer 40k, but those are a bit too dangerous for actually LIVING in.
