It sounds to me like any number of tv shows on nowadays which're basically karaoke done by people with varying levels of talent.

Whats it about?...Uuh.. kids being uncool, BUT SUDDENLY its cool to be differenderp.
Wow, Damon Albarn sure came off as an ineloquent idiot there...and I actually quite like his stuff.
But a big-name alternative musician said he didn't like Glee (or more accurately... he said something completely different). How can you argue with that?

Meanwhile, the Glee page on TVTropes nicely encapsulates everything wrong with the site. What smug, nattering, jargon-spewing little hens. Avoid.

Glee would be a better show if it had at least one foul-mouthed puppet, a vast selection of lethal ordinance and a magical alien only Jane Lynch can see and hear. Oh, and pancakes FTW.

In that time I witnessed the most overly the top feministic "boy" singing the most overly the top ballad-type cover of the Beatle's "I Wanna Hold Your Hand," while reminiscing in an over the top fashion about his recently deceased father.

I don't know much about the show. What I do know is that all the ditsy, hyperactive girls in my school can't stop talking about it in high-pitched giggles.

..............

STAY AWAY!

I see it as High School Musical and every Teen drama put into one big show. >_>

I always used to say that to my friends to annoy them, good times.

Exactly why I don't use TVTropes anymore either. The community can be horrid and beyond arrogant. Nothing will ruin a fun time faster than interacting with people on the bandwagon. Same thing happened with me and Glee, actually. It was more fun when I was oblivious to the equal mix of sneering, wannabe cool jerks and obsessive, stalkery crazies in the fandom. -_-

It's an enjoyable TV show about a group of students who are part of a 'glee club', i.e. a more modern version of a school choir, who are attempting each series to win various awards against rival glee clubs from other schools and fighting off the cheerleading coach/evil gym teacher, who resents them and the teacher in charge because they're taking funding away from her and her bratty cheerleaders.

It's also a show that gets unfairly bashed for various reasons by ignorant people who refuse to accept the mere existence of anything that they don't like, even when the show is obviously not aimed at them and nobody is forcing them to watch it or have any knowledge of it.

And for the record, the songs on the show are actually pretty good, purely because the actors are generally good singers (hence them being on the show in the first place), and many of them are already rising stars within the field of musical theatre, a worthy profession in itself. That being said, the originals are usually better, but that doesn't necessarily mean the covers are crap, because they generally aren't. So yeah...
