It is freakin awesome! And this from a radical right wing Republican that sees it pushing the homosexual agenda to the nth degreee.Valksy said:High school. And singing. And when people in my age/peer group say that they like it, I roll my eyes and sigh a bit.
So far, this season's most interesting subplot has been that Curt has found his Nirvana in a school totally acceping of gay kids... yet, I think it will be turning towards an objection of a homogonized, bland culture of enforced conformity. In some ways, season 2 has surpassed 1. Annnnd again, featured River Deep Mountain High. That was just awesome.imudkip said:I watched the show until season 2. Season 2 is reaaaally bad.
I was a little bit offended by that last line. A little. Mostly just because I'm neither a teenage girl nor a gay guy (18-year-old straight guy). I do understand that that's pretty much the demographic they're aiming for, but it bugs me when people poke fun for liking something that I'm not the target demographic for. I know you weren't, so I'm going to stop quite frankly being a bit whiny.Wabblefish said:The show is a teenage girl thing I reckon. Or gay guy show.
EDIT: sorry if that last line sounds offensive
Exactly why I used to like it, only to be very disappointed and lose interest in the second season. It wasn't like the first season was groundbreaking TV or anything, but at least it had a plot and a point to what was happening. Now, though, it has become all the things it was originally making fun of, and the fact that they constantly have to do tributes and bring in guest stars tells me they're already bankrupt for ideas. It's a train wreck of a mess to be honest. The only conceivable reason to keep watching is because of how BAD it is. It's perfect MST3K material, because it's easily the stupidest show on television.Nimcha said:Basically this. The first season had some clever pop culture commentary and the whole thing was presented in an ironic manner with a good sense of humor. For the second season they've decided to abandon all that for fan-service and cashing on covers. Plus yeah, pathetic attempts at drama.badgersprite said:Nothing. It has no plot, meaning, purpose or message. And I say this as someone who used to be in the fandom for it.
Basically, the show is about random one-liners interspersed with musical numbers and really bad attempts at drama.

Yeah I've seen Glee.avelmen1889 said:"Welcome to Glee, where every episode is the Musical Episode. Trust us, it's Better Than It Sounds.
Glee is about a high school teacher's attempts to organize the glee club while dealing with his own personal issues. The first episode alone featured music from such disparate sources as Journey and Guys And Dolls, and the show goes on to showcase everything from Charlie Chaplin to Lady Gaga.
The musical numbers are usually given an in-universe justification with the activities of the glee club, instead of seemingly springing fully formed from the minds of characters in normal situations, as with most musicals. The effect is very... postmodern. That Reminds Me Of A Song is in full effect. From time to time, an individual does just break into a full-on song and dance sequence with back-up dancers and props and so forth, and it cuts from location to location mid-stream like a music video; based on contextual clues these moments appear to be taking place in the individual's thoughts.
Tons of character stereotypes show up to the point of reviving a few Dead Horse Tropes."
