Trainer: You're a standard, average Joe trainer. You like Pokemon and like raising them.

Bug Catcher: You're a hobbyist. You don't often bother raising Pokemon and you often show your inexperience by thinking (and saying) that you should go and catch some stronger Pokemon rather than raising them.

Beauty (or Handsome): If you are male but fall into this category consider yourself a "Handsome". You don't particularly enjoy Pokemon for battling. You will select Pokemon based on their looks and how they compliment yours.

Super Nerd: You know all the benefits and draw backs of every Pokemon. You know all the quickest routes through all the dungeons. You know when every Pokemon evolves or how to make it happen in the non-level based evolutions.

Poke-maniac: A more advanced Super Nerd. A leveled up version if you will. You know what level every move is learned for every Pokemon. You know what name to use to get the best/ your favourite version of Missingno [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Missingno]

Team Rocket/Magma/every other badguy: You do not like Pokemon or raising them. You merely use Pokemon to further your evil plans. As far as you're aware Pokemon are just tools and other peoples property should belong to you.

We're young adults who have traveled the world to defeat gym leaders and challenge the Pokemon Leagues while gathering a balanced team of powerful pokemon and training them into fully evolved and optimized battling machines. We work hard to gather advanced knowledge of battle tactics and type weaknesses to exploit every potential advantage to its fullest. We also put way more thought and effort into the pokemon games than anyone ever should. It's almost admirable in a sad sort of way.

Use the comments option below to explain why you're a particular type of Pokemon trainer and argue which other types should be added. If you ask nicely they may even be added to the poll. There are still two options to be filled if worthy trainers are put forward.

plain trainer is the best i think...all round badass...being to good in one particularity thing can give you the upper hand but that just leaves everyone pointing at your glaring weaknesses...unless you have a Dragonite...they're awesome...(sorry its my favorite...)

I'm a super nerd - I'll do my best to plot out what Pokemon I should catch ahead of time and try to form a team that can play off each other (but refuse to take part in EV training or any of that malarkey.)

Some sort of category should be added for the meta-gamers, those who know how to utilize EVs and IVs and focus on battling other people (or just really, really like Shoddy Battle).

How about:

Collector: You must have every single pokémon. Even if it means to buy several games to trade pokémon with yourself, you do it.

I'm between Collector and Poke-Maniac...but only concerning the first generation.

Handsome, all pokemon are beautiful in some way, but I would prefer to hang out with them rather than force them to fight.

I am, what you classify, a 'super-nerd'. I know the strength and weaknesses of all most of the pokemon. However, I usually put a greater effort into raising my pokemon, than thinking "what will give me an edge over him?". So the knowledge of pokemon is just a bonus.

Well, I just catch pokémon randomly, and use whatever pokémon are the strongest available to me, so Trainer I guess.

There's more types, but I'd probably use a made-up type; Thief.

I use my 'Mon to help me in my crimes. Not evil per-se, but mischievous.
Actually the thief is a real type of Pokemon trainer. In the first games (I was playing earlier. Go nostalgia and long car journeys!) they are found in the Burned Out Building on Cinnibar Island.

I'll admit, I'd train only cute pokemon, and probably be a really easy trainer to beat because of this. :)
There are some cute strong pokemon.
Like...Mew...and...
Yeah I'm out. But Mew is unbelievably cute and strong.

Bloody hell. Really?

Then again, I've not played my old Red in ages. Its my second cartridge; the first had 149 'Mon on it and got stolen when I was just 8 years old. ~:/
1)Unlucky about the nicked cartridge.
2)I'm not surprised you can't remember them. Thereare only like 5 in the whole game as far as I'm aware

You forgot Co-ordinator, the people that compete in contests.

Except for the fact they completely fucked up contests in 4th gen, but eh.

Which type of trainer is the one that teaches all of his pokemon "explosion" to use whenever his pokemon are at low health?

Or the kind that uses the MissingNo. glitch to get a level 15 blastoise to use in Pokemon Stadium?

Aren't there a few other cute legendary/good pokemon? :O
When you get to Diamond/Pearl there's a huge list including:
Celebii
Jirachi
Manaphy
Phione
Mespirit
Azelf

And I think there are more too.
