Man I'm old. I'm one of the 5 people that voted for "Before the 90s".
I started playing on my old Commodore when I was young and my father set it up. And then went for a 286 and some wolfenstein.
If duck hunt and freedom force dont count, then it was Doom for me too. I have played lots of them since and think that doom 3 is the best fps game ever made. so good for them.
The first one I ever touched was Half Life: Deathmatch, where I had a few knock arounds with my cousin. But the first one I played seriously was Counter Strike, with a few friends over LAN. I was terribad at first, and lost interest after a while. But after befriending a few gaming geeks last year, my interest sparked back, and I somehow got 40x better than what I was before (at FPS's in general, not just CS).
