Wolfenstein 3D on a 386 SX

Not by far the first 3D game I played, but certainly the first FPS.

Doom was the first I ever played,

but Goldeneye was the first FPS that I ever played all the way through and did any multiplayer on.

Man I'm old. I'm one of the 5 people that voted for "Before the 90s". :)
I started playing on my old Commodore when I was young and my father set it up. And then went for a 286 and some wolfenstein.

First FPS I liked was Timesplitters 2, an absolute gem of a game. Or Future Perfect if you like story in a single-player game.

Metroid Prime 2. My first PC shooter (OMG, the mouse!!!) was Half Life 2. I usually don't play shooters though.

Wait a minute. Would Jurassic Park for the SNES count, as it has those segments inside the buildings, or is it not a "pure" enough FPS?

If duck hunt and freedom force dont count, then it was Doom for me too. I have played lots of them since and think that doom 3 is the best fps game ever made. so good for them. :)

The first one I ever touched was Half Life: Deathmatch, where I had a few knock arounds with my cousin. But the first one I played seriously was Counter Strike, with a few friends over LAN. I was terribad at first, and lost interest after a while. But after befriending a few gaming geeks last year, my interest sparked back, and I somehow got 40x better than what I was before (at FPS's in general, not just CS).
