The sniper rifle, mainly if it is magazine loading rifle, as it much faster firing than a bolt action, which is better, even if it does reduce its strength, but a headshot generally kills things in 1 hit, other than that, i use sub machine guns or assault rifles
I like pistols. If they are nicely designed in game, I use them mostly. For example, Mafia and Vietcong. Then come sniper rifles and SMGs.
yeah, snipers seem to generally have the advantage in FPS games, my highest scores on CSS and TF2 have all been with the sniper rifle and I'm not that good. Maybe they needs to be nerfed.
Then again, the scourge of soldiers in WWI trenches was soldiers armed with quality optical sights on their rifles acting as snipers. Hell, the British army was so desperate for quality sniper scopes that it set up a secret deal with the German's to get their high quality scopes in exchange for rubber (which was a vital war supply that they were running out of). But the German's cancelled the deal as the threat of more sniper scopes on the battlefield was greater than not being able to service vehicles any more.
So maybe the sniper rifle is suitably effective, even if used with none of the stealth of a real sniper simply being able to shoot from such a distance at precisely aimed weak spots is an inherent advantage that shotguns, sub-machine guns and automatic rifles can't match at close range.

Depends on the game but I have two basic preferences:
1) Short to Medium range. I like to be close enough to get my enemy's blood on me. I like Spies in TF2 because of their sneaky dirtbag nature and intimate killing style. I like Pyros for the sheer unadulterated chaos they can cause in a crowded room.
2) I like large numbers of bullets or whatever to come out of the weapon quickly. Having never mastered the crack-addict twitch reflex you need to snipe effectively, I have gotten pretty good at tracking moving targets, even jumping Scouts, with autofire. I rely on the tide of bullets a Heavy can create to wash away all my troubles. I've actually been accused of cheating because I can make such a high percentage of rounds go into the enemy. I like Engineers for much the same reason -- a lot of bang-boom in a little box.
BioShock inspired me to use all the weapons and plasmids I could get my hands on, usually in attempts to find the most nefarious way of combining them (set Splicer on fire, watch Splicer run to water, electrocute water etc).

I generally use meleé as often as possible, I just love to get up close with a nice meleé weapon, most preferably a bladed one (for aesthetic resons mostly. lol)
If I can't get a meleé weapon or it's a game that lacks good meleé weapons I'm hugging the sniper rifles. Yea I know, kinda odd to like the most opposite types of weapons (0 range and extreme range) but what can ya do...

this is my usual strategy for most games since i dont have the patience to sit and wait forr my next target as a sniper nor the skill with explosives like those cheap nade spammers on cod4,but i usally am on the top 3in most cod4 and tf2 mapsJohnny Impact said:

Anything that's not a sniper rifle, I just don't have the patience. Which is usually why I'm the one getting picked off trying to run across a field.
