I don't know about games having a higher budget than Hollywood. At their financial depths, Bond films were being made for over $20 mil. What game has had that kind of budget?
GTA IV had overall budget of $500 mil, IIRC. That includes advertising and song-licensing money, but still.
Well damn, the characters should have been more fluid and realistic-moving, then! Source this, please. I just find it hard to believe that a GTA game got more cash than Star Wars.

Wait, no. Not $500 mil. "Merely" 100 mil. Article on Shacknews.

I could out-do GTA IV tenfold in terms of fun if i was given $100 million.

I suppose it was the decade in which everything you own had a phone attached to it. And the iPhone and all that malarkey. And 9/11. And the wars. And the Recession... I think that's everything.

It's not hard to believe the world's going to end with all this shit going down. It's almost every day you hear about a terrorist attack or a shooting or a crisis or something. Farewell, Escapist. I think I'm going to go hide in my bunker. Maybe I can get Wi-Fi down there. I can take a few escapists with me.

I can't think of anything else than misery. The economy getting crippled worldwide, thank you Lehman F-ing Brothers. Terrorist attacks getting turned up a notch. War in the Middle East.

And to all of you people who claim that all decades had their portion of the shit pot: yes, you are correct. But the last decade everything got into an acceleration. I should be expecting World War 3 within the next two decades or so. If not out of religious reasons, then certainly for something else such as the fighting over resources (fossil fuels are gradually disappearing).

I'm not being pessimistic, just realistic. Better to be prepared.

It'll be remembered for having 2 big buildings blown up!
And then the 2 wars that followed it...

You mean other than NINE EFFIN' ELEVEN? And, you know, the bunch of wars it triggered?

Sheesh, that's some serious lack of perspective right there.
This.

It's also the reason for a very lackluster movie/music/films industry for most of the decade. There will be more studies and books on the phenomenon, a collective creative drain on society provoked by terrorist attacks, threats and the wars. There's already one.

The iPod. You know it's true.
Unfortunately, yes. More importantly, the death of Darrell Lance Abbot, and Chuck Schuldiner. I plan to get tribute tattoos of those two soon... :) :)

The 00s will be remembered for films such as Sin City, music by Muse and Bioshock, MGS4 and the console wars, i guess.
