It will be remembered as the decade when the most stupid wars happened. The beginning of resource hungry driven wars.
Really? you think Iraq is more stupid than the Vietnam war?

I would say music because we will all remember how shit it got. Jonas Brothers. Miley Cyrus/ Hannah Montana (has she got DID or something) and others that lead to the shit list.

I say that but the early 2000's music up to 2004-05 was alright and I have a lot of my favorite bands and singer from that time period. So I will remember for how music went to good to down the shitter. Oh and M Jackson died which counts as music. I will remember that for a while.

In the history books, I get the feeling it will be remembered for the technological advancement(things like the rise of the internet) and the war on terror.

technological advancements to the gaming industry, massive advancements for that matter. We've reached amazing technology in just 10 years. And music has improved vastly (Not that mainstream shit).

Eh, I would say that tech/gadgets this decade have advanced almost 3 times as fast as the decade before it.

EDIT: also gaming technology has changed alot too

-9/11 (one of the worst events in living memory)
-Reality TV (the age of watching morons for entertainment)
-the first Black American President (whatever you might think of him a huge moment in history)
-Nintendo Wii (the first time gaming has become mainstream)
-Texting (only really started at the beginning of the decade)
-Google (only turned up at the beginning of the decade would you believe)

That's my predictions.
the hell?!?! get over 9-11 there much worse than like -3000 people and a few missing towers. its not like we lost anyone really important or that many people.
It was more than that. When an enemy that was unfarmiliar stroke, not for military targets, but for civilians. To incite terror and harm innocents; nothing more.

magnicide
You mean magnitude. Magnicide would be the murder of a magnet.

OT: Emo kids, the wars in the middle east, technology etc etc.
Heh. Sorry, I translated a bit too literally. Similar words in latin-based languages apply to the murder of a chief of state, which is what I meant.
Regicide is for a king, Tyrannicide for a tyrant, Hericide for a lord or master. That's all I got. ( I wasn't criticising btw, I just thought it was funny)

I lol'd so hard because it makes so much sense XD

On topic, though. Everyone's going on about the 9-11 stuff, and yet noone has mentioned the truly important; the death of this guy:

<spoiler=Most iconic character EVER>

You mean other than NINE EFFIN' ELEVEN? And, you know, the bunch of wars it triggered?

Sheesh, that's some serious lack of perspective right there.

I wanted to say these ones, but the thread is about what advancement in entertainment industry will be remembered.

And i say it will be videogames. Gaming went from a geek hobby to a full-blown industry with budgets higher than in Hollywood.
Don't forget porn! As the phenomenon of celebrity has grown more insipid, the business of wank films has become both mainstream and more sophisticated at the same time - a first in the entertainment world! Also, this was the decade that more women made and purchased porn.

I don't know about games having a higher budget than Hollywood. At their financial depths, Bond films were being made for over $20 mil. What game has had that kind of budget?

GTA IV had overall budget of $500 $100 mil, IIRC. That includes song-licensing money, but still.
