-9/11 (one of the worst events in living memory)
-Reality TV (the age of watching morons for entertainment)
-the first Black American President (whatever you might think of him a huge moment in history)
-Nintendo Wii (the first time gaming has become mainstream)
-Texting (only really started at the beginning of the decade)
-Google (only turned up at the beginning of the decade would you believe)

That's my predictions.
the hell?!?! get over 9-11 there much worse than like -3000 people and a few missing towers. its not like we lost anyone really important or that many people.

The iPod. You know it's true.
Yeah, this is probably the biggest one. Ask some random dude in the future what came out of the 2000s and he'll say Ipod and other such devices. Sure, 9/11 will be up there but I don't think anyone will mention it as their first response ten or twenty years into the future.

Hopefully the tech. I mean, look at how far we've come even since 2000. We're coming out with some really cool stuff, even if it isn't what the people of the past thought we would have.

Another thing that I'll definitely remember is the video games and how much advancements were made.

I can honestly say that we've definitely made advancements in the video gaming world.

The kind of cold but I'll answer it anyway.

Even if you don't consider it "that bad" the events of 9/11 has had one of the greatest effects on politics and war this decade, if not last 60 years; it caused the age of "the war on terror", one that will probably continue for many, many decades to come.

Its the fact that 9-11 was the first major terrorist attack in the US. Also who are oyu to say that these people werent important? This year Michael Jackson died, he was a huge inspiration to music and one of the greatest musicians of all time. My mother also died this year, she was a librarian, who do you think was more important to me. try telling the families that their loved ones werent important.

Sorry about the rant but when people talk like this it pisses me off

It will be remembered as the decade when the most stupid wars happened. The beginning of resource hungry driven wars.

I can't see it at the moment but do you think in 20 years time we'll all be saying "What's up with this shit music nowadays? Not like the stuff we had in the 00's!" Probably not the music and I don't think there have been that many outstanding films. TV has gone to shit in the last decade with all this Reality drivel. I'd have to say games as they have clearly made a massive impact since the 90's when they were still relatively niche.

i think the idea of war on terror was one of the dumbest moves in history. how do you fight a war against something so abstract? quite literally terrorism can come from an organization or someone who got up one morning realised how much he hated life and used a home made bomb on himself in a supermarket. its like a war on insanity it cant be won there's always going to be insane people and uncontrollably pissed off people. the only way we could win is to remove the human ability to go insane and angry from everyone.
