With the Wii's successor recently announced for late 2012, which features are you interested in and which features would put you off of the console.

Personally I hope it is all about the games this generation and they bring back the side-scrolling game style they have been hinting at with the new Kirby and DK titles.

EDIT: Kotaku have added their 2 cents and it's worth a skim

EDIT 2: IGN have posted "A report from CVG states the new Nintendo console will use an all-new controller - not an updated Wii controller - with sources saying it will have a built-in screen. Additional sources informed IGN the screen has touch capability."

I've always liked Nintendo's stuff, but I haven't bought many first-party games recently. I'd buy the Wii's replacement if a really good game came out for it. I'm a sucker for a good Zelda.

Just needs to be HD.

I'm not a graphics whore, but SD games just look...WEIRD...on my HD TV.

I have nothing against the motion controls, as many of the games support other control options. And the best game integrate them well enough that it's never annoying.

Have another Legend of Zelda game, and I'd buy it. Closest is release titles, but really it's just titles in general.

Same rule for any console: A dozen games I want to play exclusive to it.

That said, I will be royally pissed if they hold off Skyward Sword for the new console. I doubt it will happen...but who knows. They're being sketchy on the details for SS will be released.

Backward compatibility. If this hypothetical "Wii2" can play the Wii's library, just like the Wii can play GameCube games and the GameBoy Advance can play GameBoy/GB Color games, then it's likely I'll buy one. I only played Twilight Princess and a bit of Metroid Prime 3 on the Wii; I'd like the opportunity to play more.

Games. It's guaranteed that Nintendo itself will release four or five excellent titles for it, but it's not guaranteed that anyone else will. Unless the quality of the software is drastically different than that of the Wii, this new console won't be worth shit.

No motion controls, better graphics (not a huge graphics person but aside from first party Nintendo games which looked great, alot of 3rd party ones were mediocre), better multiplayer and I'll be interested.

It's a rumor...not announced yet.

But, I'll get their next system when I have the money. I love platformers and adventures, so Nintendo's first party games are good enough for me. Just hope the next-gen systems will be roughly compatible this time so the big multiplatform games are on every platform.

Edit: Even though Nintendo's first party games are enough of a reason to get the hypothetical console, I'd still like to see better online, a bit of a redesign for the controller (bigger D-pad on the Wiimote would be an excellent start...and further improving the responsiveness, of course), backwards compatibility for the Wii, the ability to transfer your VC purchases to the new system (and adding gamecube games to the VC), and the ability to connect with your 3DS to play handheld-VC games on your television.

What feature would make me buy the Wii's successor?

A feature where a magical genie appears out of it to grant me wishes.

Or possibly if it dispensed chocolate lesbians. Chocolate male strippers would work too.

Or if it had a mode where it sent out robots to clean my house.

Still hopelessly addicted to mario, zelda, smash bros, pikmin etc.

Just have that and I'll own this console eventually, although probably not at launch.

Not much. After my experiences with the Gamecube, I simply do not trust Nintendo's ability to create and maintain a good console with good third-party support.

It needs to have a controller than doesn't involve flailing about, seizure style.

It needs to be able to support graphics that are relevant to the last 5 years.

It needs to have the big franchise and developers make games for it.

It needs to stop relying solely on Mario, Zelda, and Metroid.

Then, maybe it'll be better than a PS or Xbox.
