This poll is flawed by the lack of beans. Beans on toast is the greatest thing mankind ever invented. Beans on toast could solve world hunger, bring about world peace and even put a stopper in death. Beans on toast could cure all known diseases, power your cars, help the elderly and develop faster-than-light travel. Beans on toast could create cold fusion, give light to stars and create the greatest masterpieces. Beans on toast keeps millions of students across the entirety of the British Isles alive in times of desperation.

But no. You failed to acknowledge the true glory that is the humble beans on toast. So, I voted Marmite.

Oh it has to be cheese. Slightly melted, lots of it, not soaking through the toast. Hot enough that you have to let it cool slightly before eating it. Lovely. Maybe some ham to go with it as well.

Eggs on toast, cook'em as you like but You get bonus points for the following;
+3 Heinz Baked Beans
+2 Avocado
+1 fried onion
Use extra chewy thick bread (sourdough preferably) and have a field day with it.
...
I want this now.

I might be the only one to say this, but I don't "get" toast. Maybe it's because the inside of my mouth just tends to be drier than what I assume other people's mouths to be and toast just scratches the hell out of the roof of my mouth. But I don't see the appeal in it, to me it's just overdone/charred bread.

I voted bacon, but I actually prefer bacon on non-toasted bread. I like a lot of sandwhich toppings, but I go through stages where I will only really eat this or that, then I'll get bored and move onto something else. At the minute I enjoy a nice bit of pate.

I also really like to get two slice of toast, butter both, then put Philadelphia or other cream cheese on one slice, and then jam (preferably strawberry or apricot) on the other, and then put them together. Seems strange, but it's really good.

I generally toast my bread while constructing a sandwich but when it comes to straight-up toast I'm fine with butter. I've never had vegemite but then...you know...American. Haven't tried Branston Pickle either because of that stupid genetic lottery.

Jam and butter.

People scoff at me when I tell them that I mix jam and butter on toast/bread but fuck 'em. It's delicious!

Breakfast toast:
1.)Hot toast + smearing of butter/margarine + smearing of jam/preserves.
2.)Toast + poached egg + Tex-Mex salsa
3.)Toast + roasted tomato slices + poached egg

Lunch toast/ Dinner toast:
1.)Toast + sharp cheddar cheese slice (lightly gooey).
2.)Toast+ Slice of Pepperjack or Sharp Cheddar + Chili or Smokey Baked Beans.

I also toast my sandwich bread - even for P.B. & J.
I love toast, and enjoy most varieties.

I voted eggs, but obviously it depends on the mood I'm in. I just feel out of all of them, eggs are more substantial, other than bacon but just putting it on toast is a waste when you could be having an incredible sandwich. Also, by not putting baked beans you've missed out something I'm sure a lot of British people would choose.

I've recently found out mushrooms on toast is incredible. Fry them in a little butter or olive oil with a slightly crushed garlic clove (kept whole, not put through a crusher) and sprinkle with either fresh or dry thyme. Add a little water to gather all the mushroomy flavours into a little sauce and pour that over them (just a tiny bit, you don't want soggy toast). the breakfast of kings.

Of the options given peanut butter every time, I love me some peanut butter.

My other favorite toast topper which isn't listed is baked beans. Beans on toast are every kind of awesome.
