An excuse for humans to do what pretty much every other animal on earth does naturally: mate and reproduce. Because we have developed to the point where our consciousness is relatively independent from our instinct, our instinct is forced to influence our consciousness by making it believe certain things. This applies to more than just mating.

That's my theory anyway, I just came up with it on the spot but it seems reasonable enough. What do you guys think?
