Poll: What's next for Fallout?

While a Fallout: London doesn't sound bad, I don't think that the UK (or anywhere else in Europe) was hit that bad by the Nukes. If anything it'd be in the same condition as Las Vegas. But then again I haven't really looked up much about the Fallout universe other than the stuff that happens in the games so I'm probably wrong.

I'll have no problems with the series staying on in America and the California area (although D.C was really interesting) but what I'd really like to see is a Fallout game where you can join the Enclave.

Chicago. You could still have wannabe gangsters and utilize a different set of '50's music (think Chess Records/Motown artists). Also, elevated streets, Lake Michigan (maybe include a couple jokes about radioactive Asian carp getting through the locks), and right there you've got an interesting new setting that could retain the Fallout style.

I'd also like to see some new mechanics incorporated into the game, like climbing, that could open up the game in different ways (and utilize existing skills/attributes in new ways). That could be a way of evolving the formula so that it's not just the same game with a different coat of paint.

Its called a moose and they will rape you and your mother. You know what the wildlife in a fallout Canada would actually kind of scare the living shit out of me.

The mosquitoes wouldn't need to be effected by radiation to be scary.

I'm guessing it will take place in New York, or at least the Northeast US. In any event, I hope that Bethesda does a good job with it. They should take notice of the writing Obsidian did for New Vegas while making another fallout game, because New Vegas story-wise was much better than Fallout 3 was.

Since one of the biggest points in Fallout is the Wasteland be sure if it's in New York it won't feature all of it, although I would like that. Also it would be cool if it was, you know, A CITY not like DC or New Vegas that were like 2x2 meters of actual civilized space.

I think it should die. New Vegas already wasn't needed. Fallout 3 shouldve been the end cause at this rate fallout won't be remembered as being kick ass in a high quality package

I personally would love a back story of the main character as growing up in a raider and gaining a pip-boy from looting a vault dweller.
For location i would suggest Atlanta because you can go with the whole southern angle and a confederate faction clashing with the Enclave or the Brotherhood (or both).

My first vote would go to a fallout game set in the commonwealth or central Canada (Same are? I'm not sure where the commonwealth is located according to fallout lore). I think a fallout set in China could be interesting, but it wouldn't really fit into fallout lore that well as all of the established canon is all based around events that take place on the west coast or in other ares of the continental united states. Vault-Tec in particular was a strictly US based company that built Vaults to protect US citizens. It could have an interesting premise though. Imagine an isolated cell composed of the decendants of US military and intellignece personel living in a 200 year old bomb proof bunker that was built in the heart of enemy territory as a joint venture by Vault Tec and the US government. When the protagonist ventures out of this safe haven they encounter Chinese tribals, maybe Korean tribals, some looking for nothing more than peaceful coexistance and others out for blood. They could also encounter enclave remnants that set out before the main enclave base at the oil rig was destroyed or the remains of a chinese government set up a la the NCR. It wouldn't be easy but done right it could be a fantastic way to present the other side of the story.

Well, at least you admit your lack of knowledge. Canonically, Britain and the rest of Europe were annihilated in the Fallout universe; real life concerns of the European nations having far denser target grids than the United States come into play as well. In reality, Britain would be one of the hardest-hit nations, if not the hardest-hit, pound-for-pound, in a full-scale nuclear war, and Fallout's "Science!" wouldn't do much to prevent that.

It won't be anywhere outside of (North) America.

Fallout is a game based on 20s - 50s Americana. You can't transplant that into somewhere like Europe or China without breaking that aesthetic clean in half. Sorry.

Anyway, next setting? I could definitely see something set in the Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Great Lakes region. That has some potential.

You guys are all missing the point. You don't understand. You weren't there at the beginning. Fallout is about one place. It has only ever been about one place. It is the STORY of that ONE PLACE. And that place is California and the areas around it. Every time they start to stray from California, the games suck. (The exception being Fallout 3, which gets a pass)

Fallout 2 is to this day still the greatest game ever made, if for no other reason then these three words. Lesbian Shotgun Wedding. At that point, fallout 2 won video game design for all time. Both 1 and 2 had something special going for them. A wicked sense of humor combined with very self-aware satire.

For the first time in 13 years, fallout is back in the hands of its creators. Feargus Urquhart, and Chris Avellone. Tim Cain is unfortunately doing his own thing, but Black Isle studios was, hands down, the best development team ever. And most of them are at obsidian. Now Bethesda I will give credit to for resurrecting fallout. And they were then smart enough to hand it off to its parents. Bethesda/Obsidian have a LOT of potential. More so even than squeenix. To those of you suggesting that Fallout should die with dignity... you first.

There have been 4 fallout games that matter. 1, 2, 3 and vegas. The rest never happened. Now the only piece missing is Tim Cain's warped sense of humor. But there are a lot of people with warped senses of humor.

So, tl;dr

Keep fallout in California where it freaking belongs. If you MUST switch location, do like vegas did and keep it close, and LET US GO BACK THERE. Klamath has gotten huge since fallout 1. I wanna see the new metropolis.

Fallout is wherever the game decides to take place.
You can limit yourself if you'd like, I'd prefer to see something new, different and inspiring.
