I'm 19, and I got into anime in November last year (just after I turned 19).

Sure, I watched Dragonball Z and Pokemon when I was younger, but in the last 6 months I have finished watching 41 different shows (yes, I have a record of it) and am currently watching about another 5.

I'm assuming it's aimed at teens mostly though, since everyone in anime ever is about 16.

Currently 20, been into anime for about 5 years.

It all started when a collegue of my dad borrowed me some Naruto DvDs, along with the original Full Metal Alchemist, Trigun, Gyver (i believe it was called), and the first season of Bleach.

I was kinda falling out with anime for a while and really only followed Naruto and Fairy Tail. Naruto's been getting harder and harder to stomach outside the manga over the later seasons, but with so many fresh releases now i'm kinda getting back in. Attack on Titan, Suisei no Gargantia and Valvrave the Liberator are just a few.

Sword Art Online and Psycho-Pass had some really good runs as well.

I'm 18. Have watched some animes dubbed in my language when I was littleq, then, when I was 12 I started waching Naurto dubbed in english on Jetix, then switched to japanese with subtitles on YouTube and after that I read the manga. I was 13 then, and after I read the chapters that had been released I started reading other mangas and started watching actual anime when I was 14, in 2009. I'm now recovering from a year and a half anime and manga hiatus, thanks to Deadman Wonderland. I'm now watching Shiki.

I am 23 though I tend to only watch animes that I know are good and am very picky about what I watch though I am the same way with all shows and comics sooo yup. A lot of the animes I watch tend to be older I have noticed.

i'm 24, been watching anime since 16, so that 8 years now. Never even considered stopping. As far as i know i have very good understanding of medium.
My first anime was The Super Dimension Fortress Macross and Cardcaptor Sakura got me in to anime hardcore.
I like to watch slice of life, comedy, moe and similar light stuff, with zero tolerance for blood, death, angst.

I started with Toonami - Tenchi Muyo, Robotech, and DBZ - and then branched out into other genres. My all-time favorite has to be the Record of Lodoss War OVA: a perfect blend of politics, war, romance, drama and magic.

22 here, and have been a fan for 2 years now, back when my brother recommend I watch a little something called Cowboy Bebop. I do feel in a couple of years or so I might be too old to go to anime specific conventions, so I'm making the rounds now while I still can.
Don't say that, it means I'm not long for the convention circuit either...

OT: 23. I first started watching anime when DBZ, Samurai Pizza Cats, and Sailor Moon were airing on public TV, so around the time I was 6. I didn't have cable growing up and my parents got it into their heads that all anime was porn, so my viewing was extremely limited until we got an internet-connected computer in the house. At that point I started watching Everything I could buy, borrow, or steal and haven't really stopped since, though LoL is taking up a considerable amount of time now that I've found enough people to play with.

On a side note OP, I'd be interested to hear your opinions on Classics For The Ages/Things All Fans Should See anime. It seems like every person I ask has at least a few variations from the standard answers and you've been into the medium a while, so I'm guessing this will turn up a few things I haven't seen yet.

I'm turning 25 this saturday. I watched my first anime (Hellsing) back in 2003 when I was 15 years old, but it wasn't until 2008 when I was 20 that I became a serious anime fan.

17.

My gateway drug was Naruto on TOONAMI back in '05. Naruto is still one of my favorites, but I've since moved on to better things, like Gurren Lagann, FLCL, Durarara!!, Baccano!, Steins;Gate, Bebop, and many others.

And my favorite game (Persona 4) is presented like an anime.

I'm 23, my first anime was Pokemon. I was always aware of anime, but never really took a massive interest until the middle/end of my college years...

I watched a lot a anime in Uni, since leaving I just dont have the time, I suspect this is a fairly common story and the reason for a heavy age bias.

I started watching at around 8 years of age starting with the Zoids anime on Toonami and have both loved the medium and faceplamed at the business practices ever since. While I was a fan of light-hearted stuff in the beginning, mecha is my life blood and I've started to dive into darker shows such as Psycho Pass. Favorites would have to be Gundam 00, Gundam Wing, Gundam Seed and Seed Destiny (I know, please don't start a flame war), Persona 4 the Animation, Code Geass, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Psycho Pass.

(looking back, there is a lot of mecha in my list)

Currently watching Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S, Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet, and am hoping to start Monster at some point

You are aware that there is a very good anime adaptation of the game out now with the original voices right? Bad news is that it doesn't have anything from Golden in it but It's still awesome with all the key scenes preserved and the funny moments everyone remembers are also in it (King's Game anyone?)

I choose 30 as to not skew the poll too much - 30 in a couple months, anyway. I don't watch a lot anymore, but I still watch it now and again. I really started getting into it - ie buying anime and manga in about '95/96ish when Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball came on TV here. I was really, really into it for about a decade, but my tastes have kind of tapered off. Now maybe I'll watch a couple series and a movie or two a year. Not counting my old stuff, as that's what I watch on the treadmill, though, since I have no tv up there and no internet connection. Right now it's Seirei no Moribito while I walk.

18 year old here.

Watched Pokemon and the likes as a kid, then got into anime in a big way during secondary school. Baccano! is easily one of my favorites. A great dub and a great story and great characters.

I lumped myself in with the 30-40 crowd even though I'm actually 29...

Mostly I just watch older Mecha shows like the Tomino era Gundam stuff but every so often something like Full Metal Alchemist or Attack on Titan comes along that really hooks me with its premise.

Saw it during its orginal airing. Loved it to bits.

I don't like the dub, though. It feels weird when the characters don't use the honorifics like they do in the game.

Anime is a medium...anyway...I'm 25 and there are several manga and, anime series I enjoy. I don't know what my most recent one is that I'm into but it's probably Detroit Metal City from...I dunno, 2010, 2011? My all-time favorite anime is a toss-up between GTO and, Fist of the North Star closely followed by Love Hina and Demon King Daimou (which had a SHITTY, SHITTY ENDING).
I hear the Daimou novels are worse though.
Half the cast dies, I know blue does and I think green does too.

OT: I'm 20 and the only other anime fans I know of are online or I meet at cons. I've resorted to tieing my friend to my sofa and forcing him to watch it so I have a friend to talk about it with. Since everyone is talking when they first started watching it, I was one of the people who got into it with Pokemon and DBZ. I really started to get into it when I was 12 my brother borrowed Azumanga Daioh and Evangelion from a friend and I learned there was more shows like that than what was on Cartoon Network and I've been a hardcore fan ever since.
