Oblivion - Reason being the main quest was so boring that I played everything else and even moved on to different characters before finally just beating the game to see how it ends. I don't have an hour count, but its safe to say around 100-200 hours.

About 200 hours in Oblivion.

If it were real life time, nearly 6 years for Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. What? I got stuck! Stop laughing! I SAID STOP LAUGHING, DAMMIT!

Took a wrong turn on a crossroad in Oblivion, got distracted a little and finished the main quest line two years and a few hundred hours of gameplay later. There were always things to do or explore, and delivering the Amulet of Kings never felt exactly urgent...

I think I threw down at least 50 hours in Dragon Quest IX before I defeated the final boss... And then I started dungeon crawling.

Does it count if I gave up on a game as a kid and came back to it and finished it when I was a teenager? If so I started Ocarnia of Time at 8 and beat it at 10, and started Super Mario 64 when I was 7 and finally beat it when I was 14.

Though if you are talking about a contentious playthrough then it would have to be Fallout 3. I messed around with that game so much before the ending (Brotherhood of Steel ending) that by the time I got to it I had logged in about 70 hours.

While playing the game regularly, GTA:SA. A mixture of "All you had to do was follow the damn train, CJ" (Smoke can't shoot for shit), dying on missions and getting new weapons, and randomly mowing down anything that moves.

This game also counts for longest in real-time, I couldn't get past the mission where you get a minigun and shoot down the RC bombers. Couldn't do it at all. Came back months later, and passed it on my first go.

Edit: Actually TF2 may be the longest, 272 hours played and I still don't know which side is going to win...

We all love spending a lot of time on our favourite games. And we all love games that take us a while to finish, because it means we get more time with the game. Assuming you've ever actually beaten a game, how long (in game time rather than real time) have you taken to finish the longest game you've beaten, and what game was that?

Personally? Pokemon Black Version, at 32 hours over about two months. And I'm really hoping that Deus Ex 3 will take me longer than that, if I ever end up beating it.
Just over 50 for Twilight Princess. But I'm pretty sure the clock keeps ticking when I hit the home button to go smoke a cigarette.

Well, I finished Ocarina of Time over about 5 years. I was originally around 7 or 8 (I think) then got stuck in the Forest Temple looking for a key and gave up on it for 2 years. Then, I came back to it and promptly delayed playing another year because the Shadow Temple scared the crap out of me (or maybe it was the well...).

Ignoring RPGs I spent 42 or 43 hours playing Saints Row 2 before I did the final Ultor mission on my second playthrough (the first being a modest 20ish hours).

Mmmm I can't remember which games took me ages but I think one of them was Infinite Space (75+ hours). Near the end of the game I money grind to buy the most expensive spaceship and I grind a few more so I don't start empty handy at the new game plus (the money transfer over from the last game story).

I put round 80 some odd hours into both Dragon Quest 8 and Persona 3. I'd say the longest though was Persona 4 at around 93 hours.

I think it took me 50 hours or so before I finally got around to beating Oblivion's main quest. And about 150 more hours before I was done with that game.

I took at least 50 hours before I finished Fallout: New Vegas. Most of the time I just explored, wandering towards the empty triangles on the radar and then seeing what I could carry back to storage.

The longest real time it's taken me to finish a game... Well. I've tried time and time again to finish Super Hydlide. It's had me beaten for 17 years and counting. I actually got to the end once. I got eaten and then when I tried to load the save the next day it had corrupted.

Persona 3 , played time is at about 120 hours , BUT , i think i feel asleep once or twice while playing it sp , lets remove 30 houra from that and saw an even 90 hours . I believe sandbox games dont count hence why i didnt say oblivion. Although i got to nyx at about 100 hours , spent 20 hours grinding to be able to kill him.

EDIT : i see people talking about years so ill add that too. Legend of dragoon , took about 10 years and 4 playthroughs . Ever play through i did i stoped at the end due to boredom ( at the law city ) . About 2 months ago i decided to replay start to finish , none stop , fell asleep a few times ( yeah a bad habit i know im only 22 btw ) so i clocked over 100 hours due to me being asleep and the game still running . But i finally saw the ending ... Disapointing to say the least.

I would be amazed in anyone could beat Persona 3 or 4 in under 75 hours. I was in the hundreds each time.

Probably 40 to 50 hours. I can't remember exactly, but a lot of Bioware games took a long time, especially Kotor with mods added. I'm a completionist.

Also, I played Mechwarrior 2 A LOT, before playing the ending. Played Clan Wolf until near the end, then Clan Raven, then re-did some of my favorite missions, than again, then finally beat both endings. Then I played it through again. I love robots :).
