feel free to discuss whether or not brawl should be considered a fighting game. *Trollface*

Nah, I hate that kind of humor...

Mortal Kombat 2, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Mortal Kombat 2011, or Blazblue: Calamity Trigger.

Arcana Heart 2, definitely.

Enjoyable game mechanics, customizable style of play, and artwork I rather like. I know it's not part of the poll, but since I haven't played AH3 yet, I can't judge it.

I have other games I'd certainly call "favorites," but that's the one I always think of first, off the top of my head.

Brawl because its the only fighting game I can get anyone else in my general vicinity to play with me. Based on gameplay alone however, my favorite is Marvel vs Capcom.

Blaz Blue, good balance of aesthetics, soundtrack, and a good fighting core gameplay. The character line-up is well varied and each plays very differently than the other. Also isn't the direct remake of a remake (Yes I know there's two already) but still refreshing for something new now and again.

Mortal Kombat: Deception. Otherwise, I'm terrible at them.

Although, from the more current list, I did Ok with Super Street Fighter 4.

Then again, I was on the easiest difficulty for that one...

Our of those options SC4, although I didn't think it was terribly good.

Ever played would probably be Soulcalibur 3, with SSB Melee and Soulcalibur 2 as runners up. I'm not a big fighting game fan though.

I want to say none of the above 7 times because BlazBlue and Guilty Gear are by far my favorite.
I guess I'll vote for Soul Calibur though, ONLY because Tira is a playable character.

Your lack of Blazblue is disturbing....

Anyways, my top 3 favorite fighting games of all time are: Guilty Gear sereis, Blazblue series, Dissidia series. It's a three way tie I guess because I find them all equally awesome and worthy of praise.

All of them have incredible, fun, and deep fighting systems; just top notch gameplay overall. The aesthetics are great as well with awesome character design and vibrant visuals. They all hit the nail on the head when it came to the most important aspects of a fighting game that make them so appealing.

They don't commit the horrible sin of the "clone", every character is unique and no one plays alike. So much variety, and characters that fit every player niche.

They have deep and interesting combat systems. They fit the "easy to learn, hard to master" phrase quite nicely, and the complexity of the game never proves to be daunting despite how much that's going on.

And not to mention they have excellent and insinuative controls.

I never get tired of playing these three bad boys. I love other fighting games, but these guys sit at the very top of my list.

Agree. Why isn't BlazBlue on the list? Blasphemy!

Super Smash Bros Melee or Brawl are the best fighting games imo. Had the most fun with them, played them for the longest amount of time, and had the most actual competition with them vs button mashing nonsense. Not to say the others on the list are necessarily that, just never got into them past that level or played with people who were past that level. Button mashers in SSB stand no chance against me though.

The Smash Bros series has always been my preference. Fun, simple, with iconic characters. MvC3 was pretty good for me too... but there's only so much arcade I can replay over and over before getting bored. And the online multiplayer is hardcore competitive only.

I love Blazblue: Continuum shift. Nothing else quite like it.

Smash Bros., cause it's simple. I hate fighting games where I have to remember several dozen 6 page long button combinations just to be able to beat the game on easy (Killer Instinct, I'm looking at you), because that is not a test of skill, that is a memory test.
