I notice a massive lack of BlazBlue on your list, OP.
I felt that I needed to point this out, considering that everyone else seems to have missed it.

I don't know what the best fighting game I eer played is.

In all seriousness it would have to be a tie between Super Street Fighter II Turbo and Tekken 3.

Huh, wha? OH....

I won't tell anybody.

On topic, I also kinda liked The dragonball Z fighters. Even if the only thing we did was use the big flashy attacks on eachother till one of us died.

The Dragon Ball Z Budokai games were probably the most fun I've ever played. Tenkaichi was pretty fun too.

For me, ever since I got into the soul calibur series nothing else has really done it for me...
And I've grown to hate, really hate games that do the auto block thing, for some reason having a block button just feels more natural.

Why didn't you just put a bunch of fighting game franchises in the poll? All the same Mortal Kombat or Tekken. MK for its fatalities and uniqueness. Tekken cause foot to forehead + demon guy = win. I thought MVC:3 was alright whilst playing it in a store but I feel it would get boring after a while.

You threw Brawl in there instead of Melee, I can't answer this poll.

Anyway, SSB Melee and Tekken 5 (I don't like that rage bar in the 6th) at the moment. Also Mugen, if that counts. It's an engine you can download for free and you can make as many characters as you want with no limits.

Let's see... going by the thread title for best ever... I think I'd have to say Soul Calibur 3. Though there are a few things they did better in Soul Calibur for the Dreamcast, overall 3 was more fun and better balanced (as long as no one decided to specialize in Mitsurugi or Voldo).

In the past three years, though (protip for my fellow posters: read the poll heading. That's why older games aren't listed)... I'll admit I haven't played many. Soul Calibur 4 finally took the series off the deep end, the mechanical balance and intuitive controls are just gone... Super Smash Bros Brawl is a good drunken party game, but not technically complex enough to really qualify for a place on the list...
So I guess I'll have to go with another game that may or may not qualify: Dissidia Final Fantasy. Terrible storytelling, but oddly engaging gameplay.
