The Dragon Ball Z Budokai games were probably the most fun I've ever played. Tenkaichi was pretty fun too.
THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
(out of the list I voted Tekken though)

I own all of these games except for Brawl, yet Brawl is my favorite for the little I got the chance to play it, the controls are easy to pick up, but the gameplay was amazing. There are characters for SSF4 that I can't even pull their special moves thanks to some really retarded control scheme on a x360 pad.

Soul Calibur is great as well.

I feel that fighting game is only fun if you can do the flashy moves and be effective with them.

in the regards, I've been Tekken ever since Tekken 2 and the series is immensely enjoyable
least for me that is

BlazBlue Calamity Trigger is the only Fighting game I really care for at all. I've never been much on fighters though, never too good at them either XD

Not sure if you can count Dissidia or not as a fighting game, but if you can then that's my fav of all time

Soulcalibur 3. But seeing as it isn't on the list I'll vote for it's inferior sequel.
Too bad that SC 2 was better than 3...
I've heard, but I haven't been able to find any copies of SC 2, so I can't pass judgement. Nonetheless, SC 3 is very enjoyable.

Super Smash Bros Melee without question.

Me, as someone who sucks at fighting games because I just can't work with those combos, could actually get into that game and do good without mindless button mashing. I loved that.

My biggest issue with the series after 2 is that they gutted everyone's move list (so, I'm guessing, that the new characters introduced in 3 wouldn't feel so out of place or take too much work). Everything Mina lost in the transition still makes me sad to this day.

Why didn't you just put a bunch of fighting game franchises in the poll? All the same Mortal Kombat or Tekken. MK for its fatalities and uniqueness. Tekken cause foot to forehead + demon guy = win. I thought MVC:3 was alright whilst playing it in a store but I feel it would get boring after a while.
cause my poll was specific. Best fighting games in the past 3 YEARS.

feel free to discuss whether or not brawl should be considered a fighting game. *Trollface*

Nah, I hate that kind of humor...
That isn't my issue with Brawl being on the poll. My issue is that Brawl was the one of the most horrid games I've ever played, and typing that reminded me that is was the second game that I ever stopped in the middle of, said "this is stupid", and quit playing it for good (first was Halo). Original was good and Melee was awesome, but Brawl sucked.

OT: Dissidia. I don't care much for fighting games, but I enjoyed the first and so far the second is decent, haven't played much...
So...it was stupid because of the characters change in fight mechanics, storyline? Explain please.

No other?
Bloody Roar 4 is the best I says.
It's definately better than what I've played on the list (Soul Calibur, Smash Bros, MVC and Tekken)anyway.

For me it's between BlazBlue, King of Fighters, Super Street Fighter 4 and MvC3. Leaned most towards MvC3 and SSF4 because of their balance, which is superb, especially in the case of Super Street Fighter 4. I'm a tournament player (in sweden, tiny tournament scene :( ) and personally what I value most is balance and mechanics.

I enjoy Marvel because it's fast and frenetic, with complex mixups and setups that require you to think fast, really fast.
I enjoy SSF4 because it's so deep. It's basically chess in fighting game form. I enjoy putting my mind against anothers, try to outthink and outmanouver them. SSF4 is fairly simple. It's not that fast paced, it gives you time to think and sure, there's a aspect of execution in there but it's not as complicated as many other fighting games out there, like blazblue for instance.
So yeah, it's accessible, it's moderately paced, it's extremely balanced and the execution threshold isn't too high and instead all the focus is on your mind versus the opponent's. You're not fighting with the game, the game is merely the tool you use to mentally fight with your opponent, very fun for me :)

That I've ever played?

Well... Street Fighter 3: Third Strike is definitely up there, as is Soul Calibur/2 (although the first is definitely the best of the series), and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. I also enjoyed Blazblue: Calamity Trigger quite a bit. Mortal Kombat 2011 has a special place in my heart right now as well.

Observation: Oh... past 3 years, huh? Soul Calibur IV and Blazblue: Calamity Trigger (specifically Calamity Trigger). Oh, and Mortal Kombat 2011... although I seem to making everyone else leave lobbies with my win streaks...
